[Poison spends a long while fidgeting with her phone, walking the borders of Carlisle's garden (but not going inside, not while he isn't there). Eventually, she sits down near one of the corners, cross-legged on a low, flat rock, and taps out a simple yet heavily weighted message.]
Do you believe in Fate?
Do you believe in Fate?
text;
I believe that the choices we make are the path that paves our way.
I can't shift the blame to 'fate' when I make a mess of everything.
It was ~meant to be~ because ~fate designed it so~ and it'll all ~work out in the end.~
Nah, that's not for me.
Have some accountability.

I used to think the same, until I nearly killed all of my friends by trying to fight it. I wanted so much to believe I was in complete control of my destiny that I would have destroyed everything.
Of course, I always had that choice. It was mine to make. But it led me to where I was supposed to be in the end. Where I was always supposed to be.

I don't fight it. I just do. And what I do is my choice, not fate's. The good, the bad, and absolutely the ugly. I have nearly destroyed everything and that was because of what I decided.
That's a nice idea but some of us have nowhere to go.

That's how everyone seems to treat it.
"Fate brought me here," "Fate decided this was meant to be."
All reads kind of linear to me.

What do you think fate is like then?

It's like a story with more than one ending. Or a maze with more than one centre.

I mean, I'm pretty sure I know how my story ends at least.
Hadriel is just delaying the inevitable.

I don't know. Things work differently here, and where I was before.

I would know. I write it.

write it?

I write... everything. The first Hierophant brought all the Realms into being, and each successive one adds to the story. Like weaving a tapestry.

way too much responsbility for any one person
no subject
It's a lot of responsibility. That's why we have to be careful about choosing the ones who will come after us.

That's not biased at all, I'm sure.

If one person picks, that's kind of unfair don't you think?
Lots of room for bias.
no subject
But it isn't as if people can have a vote on it.
no subject
What makes you the sole decider? Because you were picked before for the job by someone else?
no subject
Humans don't know the Hierophant exists at all.
I will make the decision, just like Melcheron before me, and every Hierophant before him, because it's my responsibility as much as every realm is now my responsibility.
no subject
Sure.
Exactly what I hate about my kind, honestly.
Just decide things that you think is best for everyone and leave humans out of it. Typical.
