[Ikaruga appears on the network with a serene look on her face. She's currently polishing her sword tidily in her lap, keeping it shiny and well-maintained.]

Good evening, fellow residents of Hadriel. There is a certain peace of mind that comes from being capable of defending oneself. Exercise is an excellent way to stay healthy as well.

[She continues polishing the sword at an unhurried, deliberate pace before looking up again.]

That being said, I have decided to offer lessons in the art of the sword. I am also willing to be a sparring partner to those who already have training. If anyone is interested, kindly reply here or send me a private message.

My friend hired a lady who'd walk around in broad daylight with two swords, but I never really got how the cops didn't bother her about it.

[She was probably just too weird all around.]

Sounds like your world's pretty different from where I'm from. More people use guns or knives--easier to hide.

In my world, there are large beasts similar to but not exactly like the creatures in the caverns and the coliseum who can be found out in the wild. The more fierce and daring ones have been known to attack travelers or even towns. Mages are regularly hired to hunt the ones who are attacking people, but it's not a bad idea for a traveler who's going to pass through those regions to be armed.

Back home you've gotta worry about other people causing trouble. But of course people still give you a hard time about anything you could use to defend yourself.

Those involved in law enforcement overestimate their own capabilities, I've found. As if denying you access to a weapon would prevent the especially awful specimens of society from causing trouble if they were determined to do so.

Not that most of us are looking to cause trouble.

Of course not. You only want to be able to defend yourself from those who would cause trouble.

[She's quite familiar with that sort of denial, even though hers tends to be an affronted ladies do not start fights.]

So you use swords? You ever used a knife before?

I have, yes. Although I have far more training in using a sword.

[She's got a wealth of knowledge when it comes to methods to murder people. Complete with ensuring that the evidence doesn't point back to her.]

Well, if you ever wanna practice with knives, I'd be up for it. I don't know too many people who're used to 'em here.
