Hello, everyone. I hope that enough people see this who would be interested - I know we're all... most of us are eager to go home.

[Poison smiles, and it's almost a gentle look on her usually sharp-featured face.]

I have an offer of my own, for people who don't want to stay here but have nowhere else to go, or who don't want to go home. I offer my own world as sanctuary. My world is safe. There has been no war for hundreds of years, and I can personally guarantee the security and comfort of anyone who would want to follow me there.

[How can an eighteen year old girl offer that kind of security? Some people know. Others are welcome to ask.]

Our technology is more limited than most of you might be used to, but there is magic. You can have as much freedom as you want to have.

[She smiles again, smaller and quicker but still warm.]

Hello.

I'm pleased to say that the Door is in full working order. All of your allies left behind in the Null relay have been restored to us and I am able to manipulate the Door to send you home. If everyone who wishes to go home will meet me at Fear's temple after reading this post, I will send you wherever you like- be it your own world or someone else's.

You may also stay here. With the Null dead, our priorities are now rebuilding. We would not need anything from you, but as thanks for your efforts we would be happy to provide for you, as we do for our hosts, for as long as we live.

Now, with that being said- if you wouldn't mind pardoning us for some small sentimentality, we all have something that we would like to say.

[Sorrow]
These past few years have only amounted to an extremely small fraction of my lifespan, and yet it is the most important thing I will have ever done. We were cruel- I was cruel- to take life from other universes and force them to save us. I knew that then, but I also knew that there was no other option. To that end, I apologize.

Even so, you have saved us. Not just the gods remaining, or just the city, or the small amount of hosts we were able to find- but a species. You've saved the last remnants of a peaceful sentient species from genocide, and in doing so, allowed us to move forward and rebuild, to bring everything back from the brink of collapse. When my business with you is done, I will attempt to reclaim our cultural artifacts and to locate and preserve our history for the generations to come. I will document what happened here and ensure that our entire species knows that our future is possible because of you.

I will not forget what you have done for us. None of us will.

So Confusion's dead. That's not so great - I know you guys didn't like her, and she didn't like you, but I liked her. Hope's still here, though, so she'll be back sooner or later. I've got that at least, right?

And hey, most of us are still here. You guys fought hard, we all did, and it paid off. I'm not too sorry to see the Null go, if I'm honest. Good luck at home and stay chill, all right? I'll see you all around.

I'm not going to snivel and thank you like the others here. I know you did this because you didn't have another choice. In the end, we part ways as victims of circumstance.

Delight is dead and Hope can't bring her back. So while the rest of us celebrate and talk about rebuilding, I'm going to remember our fallen. I have nothing else to say to you.

I'll admit that I didn't think this was possible. Thought that running was the only option we had, and that- whatever the hell this is- was a pipe dream. I guess it worked out.

Still, we had some good times, huh? When it was just me and Hope and we turned on the Door without knowing how the hell it worked and brought these weird little fleshy people into the city- yeah, you were all mad at us, but that was pretty fun. Distracted me from the inevitable end of my people, anyway. Or... not inevitable now, I guess. Thanks for that.

Anyway, I'm gonna go with Hope. See what we can do about bringing everything back to life and whatnot, after we restore the fallen here. And speaking of... Love isn't here but I'm sure if they were, they'd say something really weird and sappy to you guys, so just make something up and imagine it comes from them.

Thank you for all that you have done. This is not what I would have chosen - genocide is never an option I wanted explored - but I know that it makes us all safe. For that, I am grateful, and for the chance to repair what has been done to my people and to our hosts.

Kate doesn't particularly like this method of disclosing the safe zone given the fact that the Null have managed to get into the network before, but it remains the most convenient way of sending out a bulletin. )

If you can't fight, there's a safe zone near the Colosseum. It's protected by The Door. Sucks to get through. Wouldn't recommend short stays.

If you can, keep an eye out for disoriented Null around there. Easy pickings.

I am sure you have seen the ships, as have we. It is time for a decision. Thanks to your efforts and knowledge, we have options - they are few, but I think any of them could succeed. But each has unknowns and possible dangers. Please take all of these into consideration before you make your decision.

First, we could use the Door to send the Null away to another facet of this wide multiverse. This would keep us safe, and allow us to stay here, in our home, in order to rebuild and restore our people. However, while we have more control of the Door, we only have so much. We can't choose where to send the Null, so they could end up anywhere, including in a universe that one of you is from. Also, while we would try our very best, it would be difficult to ensure that each and every Null scattered across the worlds is caught in this. It is possible we may miss some.

Second, we could use the Door to transport ourselves to another universe. Like the first option, we cannot be sure where we would end up. We would be safe from the Null, but possibly find other dangers. In addition, only those of us gods currently in the city would survive - there would be no option to resurrect our fallen comrades or hosts. With the hosts you have restored to me and our own essences, we could rebuild, but it would take a very long time.

One additional note for the first two options: after carrying out either one, we would need to shut the Door down permanently. To leave it working would be to invite the Null to find a way through it to us. We would send you all home first, of course, but you would never be able to return here or leave the worlds that you return to.

Finally, we could use your skills to infect the Null with a sort of virus. I will admit that my unfamiliarity with technology makes the details of this difficult to understand, but the essence of it is that a group of you would return to the communications relay found on the previous world and use it to broadcast a program that would alter the Null themselves. There are two options here, as well: use it to shut the Null down and therefore kill them, or use it to alter them and imbue them with emotions so they would no longer need or wish to destroy us.

These last two options are the most dangerous for you, and I would ask for volunteers to carry this out if it is chosen. It would allow us to stay here and rebuild our species, and it would potentially allow the Null to survive, though of course that may also be a danger someday. It would also allow us to maintain the Door, which would give you the option to come and go as you pleased. However, the ethics of destroying or permanently altering another species must be considered. Do we have the right to do this against their will? Do we have the right to commit genocide?

Please take your time to consider these options. I believe we can hold out long enough for an educated decision, rather than one made foolishly and in haste. And thank you, all of you, for everything that you have done. None of these options would have been possible if not for your hard work and ingenuity. You have accomplished incredible things and given us a chance when we had none.

There are a bunch of new people around, so...hey, I'm Nate.

[ It's been a while since he posted to the network, but things are starting to get sticky - and not even in the comparatively fun, sweaty jungle way - around these parts and tension feels like it's ramping higher. Crackling in the air. It makes the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He's not in the city, as evidenced by the dense, green foliage at his back. His sketchbook is out, open, but he's talking with both his hands. ]

I realize we're kind of running the gauntlet right now in terms of what's being thrown at us, and we're basically getting ready for an inevitable showdown, and there are already a lot of efforts being made toward preparing.

[ Sonya - a woman he doesn't know - was proposing escape routes and manageable cover strategies for civilian types. It's a good idea to have those routes mapped sooner rather than later. ]

But I've spent a lot of time since we got here getting to know this landscape, the topography. What I'm looking for are people with actual combat experience, whether that's strategic, logistical, or something similar. Fight's gonna come to us whether we want it to or not, and weaponizing the environment is one of the best chances we have at mitigating the risks. Guerrilla warfare isn't pretty, but we have the resources for it.

[Once Ignis finds his way out of the coliseum he gingerly, with one hand out in front of him, walks until he finds the side of a building and stands quietly with his palm flat against it for several seconds. Then, with the other hand, he checks through his pockets. One phone is familiar, and the other is not.

He pulls it free and examines the shape, and memories ten years forgotten come back in a rush through the initial fog of confusion, tearing his breath away from his lungs in a sharp gasp.]

Hadriel. [He murmurs across the edge of an indrawn breath, and he fumbles through dusty recollections as he slides his thumb over the screen of the phone until he hears a confirming beep.]

This is-- This is Ignis Scientia. [His voice is low and assured after the first brief stumble, for as much as his fingers are shaking. He could have been gone for days, or months... or even years. Would there be anyone left to remember who he is?] I would appreciate someone telling me how long I've been gone, and... where in the city I am relative to the coliseum.

[Briefly, the transmission flicks to video and the camera pans around. He's quite close to spire four, though not beside it.]

I'm afraid I lack the ability to accurately confirm it for myself.

[Then, the camera pans up to his face. Older - by about ten years - and heavily scarred. Behind the dark glass of his shades, his eyes are pale and glassy. He gives a wry smile.]

I know things are rough right now, and that we're all preparing for - well, for war, maybe. And I don't want to diminish the importance of that, or the work that anyone is doing. We need to be ready for whatever happens.

But I think we've all been a little stressed lately, and there's nothing like a shitty work-life balance to kill productivity, you know? And - it may not be midsummer here, but it sure feels like it.

So. Two days from now, there will be an Ice Festival in the imported housing district, outside building 4-3. [ It's just her backyard. This is very professional, it's fine. ] Anyone is welcome. This is for Daenarys and the other guardsmen, but I'm leaving this open for others concerned, since we can't really afford to be exclusive at this point. It's been a month since talk of plans started, I think it's long enough to discuss what we have and what we could start to plan on.

I have a number of ideas we could set against the Null, but most of what I'm personally proposing is escape routes and cover for those who can't fight. [She looked once more at the papers, a careful eye would show them full of rough, simple diagrams and notes. She turns cautious and looks around a moment before checking once more on the device.]

We can talk in the Guardsmen HQ. I don't know if the Null would be able to hack the devices, but I'd rather not take any chances and risk them finding out our plans.

Should have brought this up sooner, but--things got away from me. Us, I guess, really. Me and Finn and Rey found a relay station about a week out from the city on foot back on the ice planet.

Tinkered around with things, and we found out not only could we track the positions of the Null in real time, we could upload info straight into their hivemind. Didn't mess with that too much. Kind of figured the risk of pulling them down on our heads wasn't worth it.

[ A pause. ] We found maps of three different galaxies. Two are null-infested. The third one's barely touched. Personally, I think running to where things are mostly clear will only delay things. It won't win this fight. It won't save the lives of the sentients who don't see the threat coming yet.

[ A longer pause. ] We're looking for ideas, thoughts on what we could upload into the Null systems. People who could make that kind of thing. Put me in front of something with wings and I can fix it, no problem, but programming isn't my bag.

So. Who's got something useful to say?

The Null are coming and the fight is coming, we know that. But anyone who was here for the last round might remember just how desperate it was. The only reason it stopped was because Fear moved the city, not because the Null gave in or we won or anything. I foresee the same thing happening again: that when they come, they won't stop coming until we're all dead or something else intervenes.

[he sighs; he hasn't asked Sorrow directly, yet, so he can't blab about his research into the gods. But he can dance around it pretty damn well, providing as much as he knows without going into his secret research.]

I have a proposal for a way to put a permanent end to the war between the Null and the gods, but I need assistance to pull it off. Technological assistance. I have some expertise, but the mechanics of this idea will require other skill sets which I don't have and can't learn in a few weeks.

The essence of the conflict is emotion; the gods live off it and the Null hate it, and the Null's own unique brand of logic leads them to conclude that the only way to protect themselves from emotion is to destroy the gods. Our chance at getting home dies if they do, but there are simply too many Null for us to fight - we can't win this war that way. Ending the conflict is going to take creativity rather than swords and magic. That's where I come in. The Null will have no reason to destroy the gods or us if they're put into a situation where whether or not they catch the virus becomes moot. Either they need to be rendered permanently safe from emotions, or permanently afflicted with them.

As a doctor, my preference is inoculation. But as much as I understand transmission of viruses and that emotion is likely a biological state, I don't have the means of adapting that to robotic systems. If a vaccine is impossible, then we can go the opposite way and turn it into a weapon. [his eyes harden] I have my own reasons to detest such a path, but if it's that or our deaths, then I'll take unethical means over death.

Contact me if you have the skills to assist with this. I admit it's out of my area of expertise. The sooner we get on this the better, because even with the most skilled fighters preparing for months, it's not going to be enough. If all we have is physical fighting, we're all going to die anyway.

I've been wanting to apologize to many of you. I've been putting it off, out of embarrassment, but that's cowardly of me. I know....I hurt some of you, before we moved to this world. And I'm told that it's not entirely my fault, that such...effects....have happened to people here before, but that doesn't matter. They were still my actions.

I also wanted to ask a question that I know there may not be an answer to. Before I came here, I was alone for a very, very long time. I'm told it was more than ten years, but time didn't really exist where I was, so I don't know for sure.

I met some boys who came through the Door after I did, who came from the same worlds. They told me a little about what's waiting for me there, if I make it home from where I was trapped, and from here, and then they were gone. I'd like to know....is there any meaning at all behind those who come here, and those who leave again? I feel like there must be a reason that I was bought here, that they were. But maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Back where I come from, I spent many years as a sworn brother, defending my people's lands from a foe at least as terrible as your Null, maybe greater. Now, at home, our home, [(his gaze slides sidelong to Daenerys, as he chooses which word to use)] we prepare for a greater attack. If we fail, it's the end of every living person. We think of what to shore up, what to protect, and where -- what will give all our people the greatest chance of survival.

We have to think about the same things here.

For those who cannot or will not fight, we will prepare the empty units within Delight’s housing to act as shelter. They seem defensible enough for our purposes and should provide a suitable refuge.

Those aren't the only shelters around the city, but it seems fitting to have more of them. But they can't be the only defensible positions. Anything we can do to make the city more defensible, any way we can make our buildings stronger, we should be working on it. The gods have helped greatly, but we must help ourselves. We must fortify what we can and think of where and how we'll make our stand when the time comes.
