[Guess which temple Muscovy is currently in, tucked in a corner somewhere, using his backpack as a backrest and playing around with the new emoji app? It's not that he likes being in the temples, no matter which god_ess they belong to, but considering how things outside took a turn for the worse instead of for the better, he has decided on spending siren times inside - this time in Delight's temple. Which gave him time to waste.]

There are little pictures in the comms. Why?

What do these mean?

[He can figure out the others - people with different faces, and cats with different faces, hearts and a star. But those four are confusing.]

They're for adding an emotion to your text. Mostly just for fun.

[The Underground was full of 'em. Mostly thanks to Alphys being Alphys. He kind of misses Alphys.]

Bottom row's, uh...salt's for if you're upset, I think. The gun's for when you're real angry, and so's the skull. And the third one in is...

[Cripes, really? This is a kid.]

It's kind of a rude human gesture. For five-fingered folk.

But if I want to add emotion to my text I can just write it down.

[And why would you, anyway? The beauty of text is that you can use it when you don't want your emotions to be carried across.]

I have five fingers, too. What kind of rude gesture is it? Like telling someone that they are a bastard even if it isn't true?

I think it's just, you know, shorthand. I'm probably not the best person to ask. Probably best not to go around busting out that finger, though.

Do you sometimes use it?

[That's always a good way to figure out if something should really not be used or if people just think that children shouldn't use it.]

Me? Nah, I don't hate anyone enough for that.

[So it has to be an especially strong insult.]

Why not?

[People usually have one or two people that they hate enough for mean words. Or that they like enough to use them as a joke.]

Hate takes work.

You cannot choose whom you hate.

[Or at least watching others who hated someone always made it look like a process that was not under their control.]

But the things that you don't have to do are usually nice things, though. I don't have to visit my sisters or look at flowers or drink cocoa, but I have to listen to people and work to find food and run away from monsters.

Not necessarily.

[But it's easier for folks like him. Easier because he's had a long, long time to iron out the kinks.]

But with a bit of work, I guarantee: you too can be a lazybones like me.

But I want to be happy and warm and to be that you need friends or family, and making friends is work because often you need to help them and become stronger to help them first, and family sometimes forgets about you so making them stop being silly is work, too.

But then you can be happy after and they can be happy and it will be very nice for everyone, so it is very much worth it, yes?

[Kid sounds awfully sure of himself. Maybe it comes with the territory of being so young. Sans can't honestly be sure anymore. Youth is kind of a stunted concept.]

I suppose.

[He won't press the point. Really, the last thing he wants is to mold anyone to be like him.]

What can I say? You're more hardworking than I ever was.

[It is a childlike mentality, in big parts. Problem is that at least back in his world Muscovy never moved on from thinking like a child in a number of ways which becomes a massive problem when you grow up to be one of the major power players of international politics.]

Guess you'd be right about that.

[Can't help but remember a time when he was significantly more idealistic than the lazybones he is now. Happy, even. That got stamped out pretty quick, but while he's here - no point in making this kid suffer 'cause Sans didn't have a good enough time while he was young. That'd just be cruel]

It will. John said so. He told me that I will be very big and strong and have a lot of friends one day, because he was from the future.

I met him in a place that was very different from this, but there were people from all kinds of places and times there, too. He married into my family.

Yes. Others have told me the same, too. I am big and strong enough in the future that everyone knows me.
