Citizens of Hadriel! ( henry. henry it's too early for anyone to be able to handle you. let them have their coffee first. or their beverage of choice. before you start rambling on about whatever it is you're about to ramble on about.
( except that isn't going to happen, and everyone knows it, so just … go ahead and resign yourself to an early-morning headache. we'll make it up to you somehow. )
now, anyone that is actually paying attention to the video might notice our friend here is looking a little unkempt; two months in this place, and he's done the best he can without his hair products of choice, which is to say none at all and while he likes to think he's creative in the best of ways, in a pinch when it calls for it, there's only so much he can do with nothing.
( oh, and for those paying particularly close attention, they might notice a certain piece of art on the wall in the background. the gift from hope, right there in the main room of ravenhaus, for everyone to see. we're sure ronan hates it. we're sure that's why it stays there. )
for all his unkempt glory, henry looks particularly chipper, especially for only just getting to his cup of instant coffee. ( another gift from hope, thanks bro, you're a pal. ) he takes a sip, sets his cup down, and folds his hands in front of him. ) I have a question for you. Well, two – and they are, probably, the two most important things one could think about in a place like this.
( one might wonder, briefly, what henry thinks is so important – but those that know him at all, or at least in passing? are probably about to groan out loud in realization.
there's a pause for dramatic effect, which looks downright goofy with his hair looking as it does, but this one doesn't ever do things by halves. )
One: you fine-haired denizens, how do you manage the upkeep? I have personal standards to uphold, here, and I find myself slipping. It doesn't look good. ( really, he's just beginning to look normal instead of pretentiously coiffed, but we can't have that, now can we? ) And two –
Has anybody ever thought about starting a newsletter? Vlog about the goings-on? It sounds like a pretty nifty idea, doesn't it?
( basically: give him something to do. )

Don't we already have a vlog? Albeit in a spontaneous, collaborative manner of speaking.

gansey don't judge your boyfran. it's too early for that.trust their resident king to know exactly where everything is in his pile of organized chaos - and he's grinning, really, at the sight of it. pretty much ignoring that side-eyeing, though. excuse you. )
That's the point, Gansey Man. There needs to be some organization. Structure. Or maybe not even that - what if we start up our own paper? It'll be the glory of Aglionby all over again.
( that might be something that he reveres more than anyone else here. but then again ... look who you're talking to.
and maybe he'll get his larger font. )

It didn't always used to make him feel fond, though. That's entirely new. A sign of growing attachment. Well, that was probably inevitable too. ]
Like a newspaper? I feel like we'd be preaching to the choir with that. It's not as if we're a terribly large community.
Do you have itchy feet, Henry?
[ You don't want to sit still, he knows you don't. He knows that feeling when he sees it. ]
no subject
not that he's going to do that to gansey.
and not that gansey would let him in the first place.
but there's that knowing smile. ) Exactly like a newspaper, my good man. You never know until you try. What if the good people of this fine underground city want to know the goings-on without having to inquire themselves?
( ah, but look at that. he's been caught red-handed. gansey knows him too well, already. )
My feet are neither itchy nor anything out of the ordinary. ( you little shit. he wiggles his fingers for the effect. ) It's my hands that find themselves idle. And you know what they say about those ...

[ Gansey counts them off on his fingers, as a counter to Henry's jazz hands. ]
Chiefly, that we lack proper materials. No paper, no ink, certainly not a printing press. And besides, this is the digital age, and people's Network posts already deliver a considerable amount of news.
[ A pause. ]
Although possibly there'd be less general trolling if someone had an editorial overview...

( which only means that gansey is always overly-cautious, and he can't fault him for that. especially not when living with the likes of one ( 1 ) ronan lynch, and now henry himself - in which everything he does is some level of disaster, whether he chooses to believe it or not. exercising caution is probably the best idea he's ever had.
there's a thoughtful pause of his own. )
Well, you are aware that news articles do exist digitally, even if their paper-equals end up in the trash. We've got the network, yes, but I haven't seen anything else in the way of social media. Or anything close to it. ( which is distressing, really. he doesn't like the thought of living without the internet. ) What if we managed to get some people together, get them interested in collecting info and putting it together in an orderly fashion instead of willy-nilly whenever they feel like it?
( another pause. and his grin is ever-growing. ) Now you're starting to see it my way.

Do you really think we need more of a Network than we have? I mean, Jesus, there can't be more than a hundred of us here. It can't be that hard to meet new people.
[ Says Gansey, from the inside of a library. ]
Anyway I don't think the phones have a platform like that, and I certainly don't know how to code it. Do you?
[ Which means that despite his protests he's still...actually helping...
Jesus, what are you doing to him, Henry? ]

or. maybe you can, because you're going to do what you want, but ... come on. how can you deny the call, the magnetic pull of modern technology? it's delightful!
his mouth pulls into a flat line. ) Are you that afraid of a little change? ( it's a knowing thing, his expression. ) The number of people doesn't matter - and you know better than I do that newbies come in every month. Don't you think they'd appreciate something better than random people talking at them at even more random intervals when they choose to pop in and ask a question or two that's already been asked before? ( well, now you're talking about making up some kind of database, aren't you? your schemes are getting larger and larger before they've even gotten off the ground, and if you aren't careful, they're going to get too big even for you.
which. generally. isn't all that uncommon. sigh. ) Nnn ... no. Crap. Do you know anyone that's good with coding?
( he's getting you interested. c:
that's just his way of things, isn't it? )
no subject
That's a challenge. ]
Yes, all right. You have a point. It wouldn't be terrible to have something accessible and current that someone could understand at a glance. I concede.
[ Internal sigh. Followed by external sigh. ]
I do know of a boy who was interested in gathering information for new entrants. His name was Mello, I think, he might appreciate this kind of enterprise. And--
Well. I did meet two scientists while we were all hiding from a curse in Hope's Temple, and they were involved in making the clock and pedometer apps for these things. I suppose they might know.
[ He can't actually believe he had ready answers for those questions. Obviously he's thinking about this too much. ]

but at least the other is going along more fluidly with his line of thought. that's it, gansey-boy, he ends up thinking to himself, and his expression turns back into something more neutral, just a little more pleased. )
I should ask around. If you can think of a few people right off the top of your head like that, I dig a little deeper, I might come out victorious. It's something to think about, at least.
no subject
[ He's not kidding. In fact, he's not remotely surprised that Henry wants to try, given his history. He always had a cause that he was working on in Aglionby. Gansey had in fact always liked that about him. Even when he was trying to get Gansey involved in things that he had no time for at all, he'd still found the effort admirable.
Even if his friends hadn't agreed at the time. ]
And honestly, at least you'd be informative. If you want to go for it, you should.
no subject
henry always has time for things like this. gathering people together for a cause, seeing what could come from it, even with the smallest initial support. he's always been of the most firm belief that anything - well, nearly anything - can be achieved if you just apply yourself, and the kind of optimism that sings through him at any given time won't allow for anything less.
at least gansey is the kind of person to be able to appreciate something like that. and maybe, the rest of his gang will follow suit in time. but he isn't going to push it. )
Well, if you haven't bolstered my resolve, white boy. ( he laughs, full and loud. ) I'll do it.
no subject
[ Because how often had Henry really been put off by a lack of support in the past? He'd always been good at making the case for what he wanted. Where people hadn't agreed with him, he'd kept fighting until he found the ones that did.
Maybe that's why Gansey had always had more tolerance for him than Adam and Ronan, even before they were friends. ]
I hope you can manage to report on something more than bad news. We tend to be a bit short of the happier kind down here.
no subject
it is nice, though, to finally have some of that support in his corner. that's something he isn't going to take for granted. ever. )
Bad news is easy to find, we all know that - it's just a matter of digging a little deeper to find the good stuff. Stuff worth looking for. ( he looks pleased with himself, and more than willing to put in the effort to make this work.
... which, to say the least, is how he always looks, but! it's nothing short of genuine. )
I want to bring good news to this place, Dick. From what I've gathered? It needs it. Badly.
no subject
[ Because Henry is right, people really do need cheering up here. And they could use that in a way that's genuine, and not just enforced by the gods. It would be nice to feel like they were making their own choices for once.
Gansey does make a face at that unwarranted forename use, though. ]
You're going to have to tell me what I need to do to make you call me Gansey. I need that badly.
