(Housework is rather boring, but it needs to be done. Celebrimbor is setting the rather chaotic mostly-Fëanorian house to rights, frowning faintly at the odd bits and ends he comes across. There really is no explaining his father and uncles, but he loves them dearly.)

(Of course the shoe in the bathroom has no answer for him. Tutting, he picks it up and tries to determine which of his family members it belongs to. And, more importantly, why there is only one of them.

Quite the mystery! ~~What? Not every day can be filled with sorrow and wonder and madness!~~ Though Celebrimbor's day is about to become a little more complicated based on the playful chitter that follows.)

Elbereth above! What are you? (No, he has never seen a raccoon and this one is rather...large. And animated! But who can blame her - definitely a her - when Celebrimbor spies two little faces peeking out of a cabinet.)

...ah... I think I might need assistance.

(Celebrimbor tilts his head, half-listening to Fingon. The raccoon is...very distracting. But he is already fond of her little mask.)

The window was open. She must have slipped in and...

(He motions at the cabinet.)

Her little ones are in there.

[All right, no more shoe talk. Fingon takes another look at the raccoon and nods.]

Now there is a problem. Are they well?

[It must be very difficult to raise cubs in a sunless cave, after all.]

(The shoe is less of a concern all things considered.)

They are squirming. (So they have some energy, at least.) What do they eat? Do you know?

I've never seen quite their like before.

[Frowning] Will the mother let you check her teeth? That would give us some idea of what to fetch.

What if what we give her makes her sick? She needs to make milk for them. (He might be getting a little attached.)

Telpe. [Fingon can tell and he finds it a little amusing, despite everything]

She'll likely know what's safe to eat if we can bring it to her. But we need to know what our options are first.

(Okay, he is taking a breath. Breathing is good. He closes his eyes for good measure.)

...bread is safest. Whole grains. Then we can branch out into vegetables and fruit.

[Breathing is very good, and this entire extended family really needs to catch up on the practice.]

A good place to start. I can stop by the orchard and bring a few back, if you think it a good idea.

Would you mind? (He already feels responsible of the mother and her young.) There is some bread in the kitchen.

Strange to think an animal has popped up now. I haven't seen many since I arrive, if you aren't counting monsters. Do you think it might have come in through the Door?

(Breathing, yes, but calming down... That's something else entirely.)

Good idea. (He hovers a hand over her head, almost petting. It is very difficult to resist.)

There are cats aplenty. I do not know how they get in; it could be the Door's doing. I am relieved to see a creature so natural.

Telpe, you're just going to have to find someone to explain the concept to you. Someone who isn't Fingon, he'll probably botch it.

He's turning toward the orchard already.] I'll take a bit of everything. I think you could give her enough bread to take the edge of hunger off, and then we can see what she likes when I return. [So that she doesn't poison herself trying to eat everything.]

Do cats count as natural? There were rumors about the Maia of cats back at home, and none of them were good.

(Maybe he'll ask Anne. He smiles at Fingon's determination, stepping as quickly and lightly as he is able to give his cousin a grateful embrace.)

Thank you - from her and I. (He blinks and frowns thoughtfully.) I have kept my distance from them - perhaps for that reason - but I know others have found them to be plentiful. I also have not heard any stories of them mauling their owners. Could they be lying in wait?

[She does have the incomparable advantage of not being a Finwion, though who knows what proximity might change about her.

He'll gladly take the hug, if Celebrimbor is offering.] It's no trouble, cousin. Shall I pick up anything for use while I'm there?

[Hmmm. That requires some thought.] Nothing can be sure in Hadriel, of course. Though perhaps the implications would only apply to the cats of Arda? I suppose we could make a network post, to ask how many worlds consider cats a bit sinister.

(He trusts she will withstand their bad behavior. At least, he will try to soften it for her.

The hug is warm and real. Celebrimbor does not want his family to be in doubt of his love.)

If you see something of interest, yes. I trust your judgement.

(He sighs, taxed at the idea of the Enemy's spies roaming freely anywhere. But surely the cats are...not so Dark? He will be avoiding them regardless.)

I think that would be wise. Until then... Let us keep this house free of them.
