(Housework is rather boring, but it needs to be done. Celebrimbor is setting the rather chaotic mostly-Fëanorian house to rights, frowning faintly at the odd bits and ends he comes across. There really is no explaining his father and uncles, but he loves them dearly.)

Man cerig?

(Of course the shoe in the bathroom has no answer for him. Tutting, he picks it up and tries to determine which of his family members it belongs to. And, more importantly, why there is only one of them.

Quite the mystery! ~~What? Not every day can be filled with sorrow and wonder and madness!~~ Though Celebrimbor's day is about to become a little more complicated based on the playful chitter that follows.)

Elbereth above! What are you? (No, he has never seen a raccoon and this one is rather...large. And animated! But who can blame her - definitely a her - when Celebrimbor spies two little faces peeking out of a cabinet.)

...ah... I think I might need assistance.

[ A silent footfall behind him, an absent minded hum that cuts off ]

What is it, Tyelpe?

(He is frozen in place, looking completely stunned.)

...I don't know! Have you seen a creature of this sort before?

[ Maglor shakes his head and then pauses ]

Ah ... not quite this size, but... I believe the Hobbits had similar creatures in the Shire. She is a mother, I see.

(Well...that is...a little reassuring?)

She must have given birth inside. I do not think she would appreciate us moving her.

(No, no, definitely not. She is beginning to growl.)

I'm sorry, Lady.

We won't harm you lady. [ Maglor soothes ]

Nor your little ones. But would you not like a more comfortable and quiet place? We will be coming and going often in here.

(The raccoon relaxes at the sound of Maglor's voice, turning to gaze at him with bright, perceptive eyes. Celebrimbor takes the opportunity to peer closer at the babies.)

There are two, Uncle, and they do not have their fur. Somewhere warm would suit best.

The forge is the warmest, but too busy. Out by the woodpile?

[ he murmurs, still crooning to the racoon ]

I finished my guard shift an hour ago and- ah, apologies. [Fingon takes a look at the shoe and shakes his head.] Not one of mine.

Now how did these guests get inside?

(The mother reaches out to Maglor with little paws. Does he have a treat for her?)

I can build them a small house of their own. With warm straw and a blanket or two.

(Celebrimbor tilts his head, half-listening to Fingon. The raccoon is...very distracting. But he is already fond of her little mask.)

The window was open. She must have slipped in and...

(He motions at the cabinet.)

Her little ones are in there.

Sorry, little mother.

[ Maglor apologises, allowing her to investigate empty hands ]

I did not know you were here, or I would have brought something. I'll make sure to bring something for your family next time.

[ To Celebrimbor he nods ]

Perhaps near the kitchen would work better, but the woodpile has more places to hide, I was thinking. I am sure you will build them something beautiful.

[All right, no more shoe talk. Fingon takes another look at the raccoon and nods.]

Now there is a problem. Are they well?

[It must be very difficult to raise cubs in a sunless cave, after all.]

(She sniffs his hands, grabbing onto his fingers to steady herself as she inches out from the counter.)

I shall gather some food and then begin work. I can take some inspiration from the woodpile.

(He smiles and shrugs off his shirt, tucking it into the cabinet and around the little pups.)

Until then, use the other bathroom, Uncle.

(The shoe is less of a concern all things considered.)

They are squirming. (So they have some energy, at least.) What do they eat? Do you know?

There now, little mother. We won't harm you.

[ He smiles as she grows braver ]

I will. I wonder what they eat?

[While Celebrimbor worked on housework Anne had been tidying in the kitchen, pausing when she heard him, heading towards where she had heard his voice.

She paused at the door, not recognizing the animal.] Is it dangerous?

(She turns to itch her tail, obviously as ease with them. Such is the power of a Bard's voice!)

You say they are found in the Shire? Fruit and vegetables might be a good place to start.

(Celebrimbor does his best to not look utterly shocked in her presence. He does have some pride.

Somewhere.)

Any mother is dangerous if she feels her babes are being threatened.

There are babies in there?

[She didn't know a lot about wild animals after a lifetime in a palace. She peered at the cabinet, stepping slightly in the room just a little.]

Two by my count and newly born. (He steps between Anne and the mother just in case there is any misunderstanding. Inside the cabinet, two little pink raccoon pups are snuffling and yawning.)

Aye. They lived wild, though I think they used to raid the kitchen middens for food.

[ Maglor smiles, happy that she will let them approach now ]

I can look for food for them, if you would rather turn your hand to their home!

(He chuckles and offers his hand to the mother raccoon next. She grabs onto it in much the same way, peering up at him.)

T'would be hard to chastise them! Let us be off to see them safely fed and moved.

(He is grateful for Maglor's help. Grabbing his cane, he presses a kiss to his Uncle's cheek before making his way out.)

[ Maglor still twitches in surprise when touched, still not used to his ghosts being... well, not ghosts at all.

But he smiles and follows Celebrimbor out ]

You've never met a hobbit matron. [ He says dryly ] Believe you me, they can chastise anyone.

(No, he is very real and a little twitching isn't going to make him back down from showing affection.)

Did they chastise you? (That he might have liked to see!)

Often. [ Maglor says dryly ]

And at length. For all sorts of things, ranging from me not eating enough to not knowing the correct way to serve tea.
