I am providing some collected information suitable for those who prefer an unbiased report, those with particularly short attention spans, or both, in an additional effort to reduce the amount of redundant queries taking up space on the network.

The Door:
* Fear takes responsibility for opening the Door in the first place. Sorrow knows how to operate it in a general manner but claims he is unable to select individuals it brings in (probably true but unconfirmed). Other parasites have tampered with it less successfully.
* Sorrow knows location of Door but unwilling to share it. At the time of the city split, it was in the half with the Colosseum. There have been some statements that may suggest that the Door can be moved from one location to another.
* Evidence suggests it is more likely to reconnect to people and universes with which it has established prior connections.
* Door appears to operate self-sufficiently, without additional detectable power draw required. (in line with known interdimensional technologies -- Marian)
* As suggested from the above, Sorrow is the most knowledgeable concerning the Door.
* Connects to other universes in quick succession, connections established sequentially one after another during its opening phase approximately every month.

The Null:
* Parasites claim inorganic. Self-described as 98.2% synthetic. Parasites describe them as adaptable and capable of changing to exploit weaknesses, shifting form often and while not physically strong as individuals
* Capable of using numbers to overwhelm opponents (factory reproduction?)
* May be copper-based or contain some copper-like material (unverified)
* Can be damaged through conventional weaponry.
* In constant contact with each other through unknown mode of communication. Not unreasonable to assume radio or other conventional method.
* Claim they have a conduit to send weapons to the city, but unconfirmed.
* Concerned that if they approach the city, the parasites will move it again.
* Suggest they are capable of coexisting with other organisms, and it was the parasites' infection that triggered their aggression.
* Based on commonalities from both the Null and the parasites: There was at one point peaceful trade between the two before the parasites began to infect the Null, at which point they quickly eliminated the initial host population through an unknown airborne method, weakening the parasites enough to destroy them.

The Parasites:
* Always present in the city, but we are not always capable of detecting their presence.
* Describe their previous hosts as 'simple-minded'. Null refer to previous hosts as 'loving' the parasites.
* Capable of running out of power - death of previous hosts, over-expenditure of power.
* Fear capable of moving the city from one planet to another. I have confirmed that we are at the very least being moved from one cavern to another.
* Limit energetic flux in the city's vicinity to conceal its location. May affect some residents' abilities. A parasite's revival cannot be hidden, however.
* Unclear what type of weapons are required to injure them.

Additional factual or clearly-marked speculative, but useful, additions welcome.

You could try not calling them 'parasites'. Your bias is showing.

Have you, I don't know....asked them what they would like to be called instead? You gave the Null that courtesy. Does it not extend to the gods?

Really? Because your words say otherwise. I'd suggest a rewrite.

Does this include information from the data gathered at the arena, or are you still going through analyzing that?

[Also, more importantly--]

How's your knee?
sonofacesius: (wary)

[personal profile] sonofacesius 2017-08-16 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Well there was the difference. Marian saw them as kidnappers and torturers.
Will saw them as just another fucking day dealing with gods. Just these ones weren't his actual family.]

Maybe you should try it? And start by giving them the benefit of the doubt. Hope has been feeding you all this time. It might be for inherently selfish reasons but it's a start.

Most gods aren't exactly selfless. They're not human, so you can't expect them to play by the same rules.

And I think you'll find the Null to be lacking if it ever comes time for them to deliver their promises.
sonofacesius: (omg what?)

[personal profile] sonofacesius 2017-08-16 02:24 am (UTC)(link)

Let's see. Not that new. And not an idiot. So what makes you say that?

You should get this put in the guide people are still working on.

[Maybe with some editing. For consistency with the rest of it.]

Hopefully you'll have gotten everything you need from the last time.

[He's tentatively planning to go back next month, but right now he's not completely sure. It had been a close call this month, after all.]

You should know that Zack is no longer here, though, so he won't be able to help with the data.

[As much as he hates to say that.]

Thank you. This is very helpful.

So we're really being moved around to different planets? Do we have any idea how often?

so unlike them, these null can be destroyed without any tailored weaponry.

would like to obtain one of them, if it's ever possible. have experience with synthetic "anatomy" - so to speak.
any information on what they are made of could be valuable.
sonofacesius: (what did just tell you?)

[personal profile] sonofacesius 2017-08-16 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
We all have to start somewhere. I don't know about you but I'd like to avoid a war. If we're not careful, that's exactly how this is going to end. I don't know about you, but I've been through 2.

I'd really like to not have to go through that again. Not for the same reasons.

I realize the exact situation I'm in. I've been doing this for a while now, not just here. I'm sorry you don't seem to grasp the mechanics of it.

You want Sorrow to do something inherently dangerous to him and his species. Return us. If he even knows how, which I'm pretty sure the gods are denying.

[Yes, Will thinks you are angry and reaching.]

I understand that's not the answer you were looking for, but do you sincerely think the Null would be any better?

I don't know about you but I've heard double handed promises before. This never works out well.
sonofacesius: (seriously?)

[personal profile] sonofacesius 2017-08-16 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I really am sorry you see it that way. Can't you see it as trying to find a better way? So that everyone survives and maybe, just maybe, no one gets hurt?

Maybe give the gods the benefit of the doubt that they don't know how to work the Door and send everyone back?

I'm really am sorry you're so angry. It's bad for your blood pressure. You might want to stop by the clinic and get checked out.

You said Sorrow knows how to work it generally. That doesn't mean he knows how to work all of it.

Have you tried taking deep breaths?

[Oh hey again, Marian.]

Assuming you're both talking about the Null, I actually have an idea about this. I'm not totally sure, but they may be made partially from copper; if not, it was something that looked a lot like copper.

Optimism, Marian. You can go back to the pessimism once you're sure it's warranted.

[It might not translate well through text, but he is joking. Also her next comment is actually a really nice thing to say, considering the situation.]

It probably is, yes. Thank you.

[For the sentiment.]
