While we debate over Delight's fate, I would like to share what little I can offer to provide relief to everyone.

[The camera pans over to one of the various pools of water, which is partially frozen over.]

The heat will melt it soon enough, and the ice magic itself is only temporary. But for anyone in need of ice or cold water, I can provide it. Meet me by Hope's pool if you wish to make use of such an offer.

[Belatedly, he realises he should explain himself--] My name is Fox. I apologise for wishing to remain anonymous, but you will easily identify me by the mask you see now.

[Perhaps the secrecy is excessive, and anyone perceptive enough might identify him by voice, regardless. But he wants to keep both his powers and his secret identity, well, secret, particularly when it's become harder to know who to trust since Delight's betrayal. A Phantom Thief can never be too careful.]

Ah... gotcha. [Kiran knows someone back home with ice powers, but it sounds like this guy can do a little bit more with his.]

Mind if I come get some of that ice? I don't even wanna drink it or whatever. Just holding on to something cold is good enough for me.

[A few minutes later, Kiran arrives at Hope's pool - gently floating down from the sky. Yes, he flew there. It was easy to find at any rate, seeing as how the fox-masked guy is pretty hard to miss.

After his blue heeled boots hit the sand, he raises a hand and silently waves at Fox. It feels like he should say something, but he has no idea what to say, so he just awkwardly kneels at the pool to retrieve a large floating ice cube.]

[Yusuke had been sitting by the pool when he spots a figure descending from the sky. He narrows his eyes, puzzled and wondering if this heat is making him imagine things, before realising it's the boy he'd spoken to on the network a short time ago.

Nothing about this place should surprise him any more, yet somehow, that just did. He gets to his feet, watching him.]

Ah... Hello. Is that how you always get around?

[Cupping the freezing cold ice cube in his hands, he raises it to his forehead and presses it to his skin. Ahhhhh. He's needed something like this for days.]

Flying? [shrugs his shoulders, still holding his arms up to keep the ice pressed to his face. Kiran isn't feeling very chatty, but it would be awkward to just stand here and enjoy the guy's ice without talking to him. He seems okay.] Not really... I mean, I've been doing it more here since it's so goddamn hot, but it's not something I do out in the open back home, if that's what you mean.

[Fox simply observes, thoughtfully putting a hand to his chin.]

I see. Is it because you don't want to flaunt your powers? I understand that well enough.

[Even this is way outside his own comfort zone, even though he's been careful not to show anyone Goemon. The less people know about the source of his power or how he fights, the better.]

Well, that's why back home. It seems to matter a lot less here. [He moves the ice cube upwards, pushing up his bangs until they shift backwards onto the top of his head.] But mostly, it's because I don't want to use up my magic too quickly. There's fewer ways for me to recharge it here.

[That's the simple way to describe it, after talking to others here.]

[Fox taps his chin, and nods.]

Ah, I see. If it's not too personal a question, how do you recharge your magic? Are rest and food not ample enough measures to gain your strength back?

[Kiran looks away, his face twisting up into mild apprehension. How to answer that without giving him a ten minute history lesson, and without making it sound super creepy?

He sits back and shrugs his shoulders, trying to play it cool.]

Uh, the short answer is that we can siphon it off other people... but most of the people here don't have the thing that makes magic for us to siphon in the first place. [Frowning, he glances at him to gauge his reaction. That wasn't too creepy-sounding, was it?]

[Kind of creepy, but hey, they're getting emotions leeched off of them by gods all the time. What's a little magic siphoning to boot? Mostly, Yusuke just looks thoughtful.]

So... What is this "thing"? Would you be able to do it to me, for instance?

[If Fox is that curious about it, maybe he has no choice but to explain it to him...?

He pulls the block of ice away from his face.] The way it works is, basically, like... Okay, you know what destiny is, right? Where people are gonna do something in the future, no matter what decisions they make? Like in that Greek play they make everyone read in school, "Oedipus."

The short answer is, I pull magic off of people when they do something that goes against what their destiny says they have to do. [he gestures around them.] But most of the people here don't seem to have destinies in the first place... or at least not in the same way, so... there isn't much for me to draw from.

Hmm... I have experience in defying others' wishes for me, but I do not think that would count as destiny.

[And besides his talent at art, Fox wasn't anyone special before the Phantom Thieves swept into his life, so he's doubtful he has any kind of important destiny...]

It's unlikely that I can help you; I apologise. If there are so few energy sources for you here, what would happen if you were to run out of energy completely?

Well, I wouldn't have any magic to use. It would come back slowly on its own... I'd just need to take it easy for a while, that's all.

[It's much better to be able to borrow it off of other people -
but so far it hasn't been a huge problem, so, oh well.

Kiran handwaves the issue away.] Anyway... you got nothing to be sorry for. I didn't come here because I wanted to leech magic off you or something. What about you? What's with the ice magic?

[he probably won't tell him, considering the secrecy with the mask and the fake name, but he can try to ask.]
