oh my god what the fuck? you know what, this flu is like some killer flu or some shit because everyone i have spoken to is coming down with it. how is that for this place? all survived the null attack to be killed by a cold? you do realize that the influenza virus can give you shit like heart failure and sepsis? i mean jesus, your arm could drop off. other bits of you could fall off.

so if you don't have this flu bullshit then go lock yourself away and don't talk to anyone and if we all die then at least we'll come back. maybe. unless it's all fucked up then who the hell knows anymore?

Secondly, the flu's only dangerous if you have an underlying heart condition or an auto immune disease.

What's smallpox?

Flu and smallpox is nothing compared to taint spread by darkspawn. Either you die within hours or wither away slower but still in agony. Killing them is considered an act of mercy because if they somehow survive for a while, they don't do it with their sanity intact. They become ghouls, becoming rabid, deformed things that hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down. They only live to kill everything, and it doesn't matter if the person in front of them is their lover or kid or best friend. They'll get torn apart.

Better to die than become THAT.

no-one can be sure that they don't have a heart condition. my aunts knew someone who had no idea until it was too late. and knowing this place, it's probably dangerous without the other stuff.

it's some disease where you feel ill then get a huge rash and then you die. it's meant to be super contagious too.

That sounds like Greyscale. It starts with a grey rash over the skin and ultimately drives the afflicted mad before killing them.

Thing about those sorts of stories kid-and this coming from my own experience-any story beginning with 'I knew someone' is either a bullshit rumor or greatly exaggerated with missing details.

So, this is a flu bug going around, shit like that happens all the time. Freaking out and panicking about it won't do you or anyone any favors, and since stress weakens the immune system, I'd suggest you try and calm down.

And I've already been vaccinated against small pox-one of the few good things about military health care.

No, that's not a real disease, it's just what people feared when they started experimenting with vaccinations. The first experiments involved dairymaids who had caught cowpox, but doctors found they were immune to smallpox]

[I don't know when you were born, kid, but yes, until I was a little younger than you, there was a smallpox vaccine. They stopped because the virus was all but eradicated except for the CDC. They only give it to military because the work we do puts us at risk for chemical/biological warfare-hell, even our uniforms are treated against possible infection.
