Hey, there. Any of you doctors here know stuff about eyes?

Sort of don't know if I need to...well...see someone or not

[He's been avoiding saying it aloud. Partly because if there is something wrong he's not sure there's anything to be done about it but also because it would be admitting to his own negligence.]

I'm sort of, uh, I'm sort of supposed to get things checked regularly but...I haven't...since I've been here.

[It wasn't so much a problem when the city was in a cave, but now that they are on a planet with two suns well...he's been pushing his luck, even with his limited exposure to the outside]

Well luckily I don't need my eyes reattached, I'm happy with their level of attachment to the rest of my body for the time being.

Do you mean since you've been in Hadriel? Or just since we've been on this desert planet? [ Snaps his fingers, hasn't thought of this before. ] The two suns! You have no way of knowing whether you're staring straight into one of them, and your eyes could be damaged by that. Even indirect exposure could be a problem.

Is there something in particular that makes you wonder if there is a problem?

[ And yes, he gets it, about not wanting to say a thing aloud for fear of admitting to some sort of failure of responsibility. But he does want to know, in case he can use his tech skills to help in any way. ]

[Back in California he had his sunglasses, but when he got pulled through the Door his sunglasses had been sitting among his things at his workstation in the back of the van. Even his cane had been left behind.]

At first I thought maybe it was just part of the weird god fever stuff that happened but the fever's gone now and something still feels irritated. It stings when I blink like when you've been swimming in a chlorinated pool for too long.

I, uh, I don't know if the two suns in this place might have started to do some damage.

Back home I'd have sunglasses if I went outside. They didn't arrive with me but it wasn't that big of a deal when we were in a cave. But it's different now.

[He's already got that stupid twitch left over from when Hope revived him poorly. He doesn't want to add empty eye sockets to the list]

If you want it looked at right away, someone in the clinic should be able to. [yeah, Will, you go get that work] Otherwise, if it can wait a couple days, I will.

[ He recognizes the element chlorine from his reading in the world he sojourned in before the Door sucked him into Hadriel. But he has no idea why anybody would put such a thing in a pool meant for swimming. Irritating substance, yuck! ]

Whistler, it does sound to me as though your eyes are sunburned. You should definitely talk to a doctor and get this checked out. But I can help. I made a pair of sunglasses for Sharon a couple of weeks ago, and I have materials left over. I can make a pair for you, too.

I don't know if this sort of thing gets worse if I just stay inside or not.
