For those of you who have [ pause, a low hum, ] superpowers. Has this place ever taken them from you?

​​[ She has ways of being completely private, but that's a little invasive and not something to advertise. Anyone heading to the park to speak to her or in the vicinity will see a young woman on a bench, with a thermos full of tea next to her, steam rising off the cup clasped in her hands. ]

That's what it looks like. Me, I can only, [ the liquid swirls around before dropping into the cup ] so nothing has happened, so far.

Small acts of will. If I put enough energy into it and practice enough, I can do it. Telekinesis, pyrokinesis, telepathy, healing... that's the one I'm most glad to have here.

[ Abrupt. She can't help the sudden, overt curiosity: ]

I've never met another. How does yours work?

[ ooc: I'd really appreciate if you filled out her powers permissions. ]

I've never really done it with a human, but I sort of... reach out with the thought? My kind can sense each other's energy. And there's a woman here I talk to that way. It reminds me of home.

[ She hesitates. It's invasive to try it now and probably unadvisable to try and touch an alien mind, but curiosity is winning. ]

What does it feel like, with your people?

I'm not sure how to describe it. Sensing one another is like being in a crowd and knowing there are eyes on you. Communicating is... harder to explain. We could try, if you wanted. There's one other here I can speak to as easily as if we were the same.

[ She hesitates, but slowly holds out her hand. ]

[ He doesn't need the contact, but there's something comforting in it. Pell takes her hand and curls his fingers around hers as he reaches out with his mind. It's exceedingly gentle, the nudge against her consciousness -- something warm and kind and hopeful. He doesn't push into her thoughts, just hovers at the surface to pick up anything she might project. ]

Is it familiar?

Yes.

​[ It's tentative, which surprises her. Pell is warm, the grip like taking the hand of a friend after a long time, an embrace. ]

This is — I don't know how to describe it.

Neither did I. Maybe it's beyond words.

[ There's another burst of feeling, something grateful -- for her, for her ability, for the fact that he can have something familiar as well even here. ]

[ It's a curious experience: feeling the gratitude take root and bloom in the span of a few short seconds. Slowly the cautious brushes get less so, and she reaches out. Something she likes? The question startles her; happiness is -- a streak of silver, too fast to see, Pietro laughing. In her memories he is fierce: teasing her, or his brows drawn together sharing her anger. She focuses on one single image to project: him sewing her a dress. They are fifteen, hiding in an old apartment downtown. ]
