[Getting no word from Henry or Maketh as demons are spawning in the city, Nick steps in.]

Guard, report in. Long story short in case you missed the memo: there are demons in the city.

[There's the sound of shuffling paper. He's been taking notes from what's come up on the network about these things.]

Inquisitor Trevelyan is closing the tears they're coming through, but until she gets to them all, it's our job to keep folks safe. Stick to your patrols, send word if you need backup, and if it comes right down to it, do what you need to do.

[He signs off with that. Time to keep trying to get a hold of the actual leaders of the Guard. Them being missing is not a good sign.]

Demons would be a hard memo to miss.

[ her tone is almost unreasonably playful for the situation, but that only lasts for the introductory sentence. then it's all business, the voice of someone who's used to military precision when it comes to her danger. ]

Whatever gets the job done. Just be careful of anyone who might be possessed by one of these things. If demons are taking bodies out for a joyride, there's no telling what kind of trouble they'll make, given some of the folks here.

The importance of keeping others safe is undeniable, but what do we know so far about how to protect ourselves or others against this particular brand of enemy?

That'd be a start. What I've heard is that they won't be acting like themselves if they're possessed, but that only works for people you know to begin with. The real obvious way to tell if they're playing host to something from another world is if they turn into some kind of monstrous Abomination.

[Nothing like a crisis to bring people out of the woodwork. Nick writes down that name for later, in case he's interested in helping the Guard in more than a one-time capacity.]

I haven't heard otherwise, but if you want to try luring one over to a temple to see if they turn away, be my guest. Just be careful if you do.

Prevention sounds like the best policy. Word is they're most likely to make deals for a possession in your dreams, so if you're the type who has to sleep, that'd be one place to watch out for them.

[Assuming one can. Given what he is, Nick wouldn't know about how much control folks have over what they do in dreams.]

The main thing is that if you or someone else gets possessed, there's no cure. Not that I've heard of.

Yeah, that's him. He can take care of himself in a lot of situations, but it never hurts to have someone looking out for you.

New member of the guard, reporting in. I'm aware of the situation and will be patrolling and fighting these things until they're gone. Given what they're capable of, we must be on high alert.
