Maybe it's for protection from the monsters. I think some people use salt for that.

I'm not sure what good having it in the phone would do. Perhaps you show it to the monster if you're attacked?

pretty sure it means irritation at something.

[Buuuuuut your guess is as good as his. These wacky humans and their human culture, right?]

Ignore it. It's pretty stupid.

okay remember how you felt when everyone was like "oh my world is worse!! dystopian future sounds like a tuesday!! you don't have it that bad!!"
and you werent like sad
but you were like angry
but also annoyed
angry-annoyed

that bitterness like an old man sitting on his porch complaining but not doing anything about it
knowing youre right but other people are wrong but it's not #worthit to deal with it

all of that is feeling salty
so the emoji is a can of salt to represent feeling salty

its a useful term

Maybe it's for cooking.

Or for when you're at the dinner table and you don't want to talk. You can just send someone and they'll pass the salt.

[Are they fucking with her?

Whoooo knows.]

Being salty's like being kind of bitter/pissed off; not like super mad about something, but sullen-mad. It kind of started as a joke to make an emoji for it, but then Em and I decided we totally needed it in this place since like half the population's salty 24/7.

I'd wondered about that picture too... it didn't seem to fit with the rest. But I've learned something new from these replies, so thank you for asking.

other people've got you covered with what it means, but i'm not sure why anyone made it a priority. that's the real question.

You can definitely say that.

Yeah, Em drew them all and I did the coding to make the program work.

What kind of slang uses a can of salt....

It wasn't the most useful thing I've ever learned, but still, it counts.

Does your world not have phones, either?

Weapons worked on them? With the lingered back home, all you could do was hide from them.
