Greetings to all Hadriel denizens, and a welcome to those of you who have only recently arrived. My name is Dr. Hannibal Lecter. My colleague Dr. Lee Rosen and I are both psychiatrists, and would like to extend our services to all of you.

Perhaps you have never experienced therapy before. There are many misconceptions when it comes to psychiatry. You may think that only those who are not mentally sound seek therapy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sometimes the healthiest thing is to seek the assistance of a professional when desiring to understand how both the past and the present are affecting you, and what sorts of behaviors you may alter to ensure for yourself the best future. This is important even in the most mundane of situations, yet ours is far from mundane. The gods play with our emotions. Sometimes we are left to wonder if what we felt was real, or merely an illusion. Either way, the pain is real. And we can help you. Recently the gods allowed us to speak to each other anonymously over the network. The outpouring of raw feeling, of fear and worry and sorrow, was striking. There was some solace in speaking to our fellow citizens. Perhaps even more may be found in utilizing the training and talent of Dr. Rosen and myself.

We would like to hold open office hours at the clinic, if those who run the facility are amenable. In the meantime, you may contact either of us for an appointment. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

It's good of the two of you to offer this to everyone. I think it could really help. Some people have been here a lot longer than I have, and I can only imagine how hard it is the more time passes.

That is a good question. Even in mundane situations, it is a highly recommended practice that therapists have therapists of their own. It would be best if there were more than the two of us, but until the gods decide to grace us with another colleague, Dr. Rosen and I will likely assist each other in this capacity.

Like when and where you trained? Pretty big difference between Germany in the 60s and the US, 2002.

Unfortunately, no. Therapy is a private, personal thing, and while there are times when mandating care is necessary, it is best that people approach it on their own terms whenever possible.

Absolutely. As someone else commented, this is a position of great trust. It is your right to know as much about us and our practices as possible.

I did my studies at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, graduating with my MD and PsyD in 1997.

You're absolutely right. Therapy requires a tremendous amount of trust. And I understand that not everyone will be comfortable with that. We can offer our credentials, for as far as those go. In addition, this is a rather small community we have. If we do not honor the confidential requirements of our profession, or the Hippocratic oath of do no harm, it is quite likely to become quite public.

I don't see how it could hurt to clear you two some space to work. We're pretty badly understaffed right now, though, it might take us awhile.
