NOTIFICATION/REPORT #2 || BACKDATED TO 10-10 AFTERNOON
Attention: Hadriel Residents
Subject: Dragxkdksoe
[ Abruptly, the text is posted, with a video immediately following, the screen initially shaking, jostling, as one voice protests in the background ]
Newton, give it back--!!
--we’re talking about dragons, Hermann! There’s no way you’re doing this in a stuffy text post!
[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]
[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.
Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]
Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--
(Boyfriend!)
[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]
--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.
We are requesting data--
[and that’s about the time Newt’s managed to prop the camera up somewhere, and pops fully into view.]
--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.
[and tbh that’s about as much of serious professional as Newt is going to be able to get before really yeah okay he has to fold and his face splits into a wide grin] Also real, live dragons, you guys. Dragons! This is seriously some King Arthur level shit! How cool is this?!
[ observe the look of deep, deep, depthless chagrin as it settles into the lines of Dr. Gottlieb's face, lines carved by almost seven years of this.
LOUDLY: ]
Videos if they may be safely obtained, observations, specifics, as specific as possible. Note the effectiveness of your standard weaponry, or whatever it is you can do and use. The scales would, indeed, be particularly helpful.
Be safe, but be quick and be thorough.
Yeah, don’t die while doing it. That’d be dumb.
...Right. The sooner, the sooner we may be able to put something together.
So, like….chop chop and stuff. Thanks! K-Sci, out!
[aaand yep gonna turn off that video now, though because he’s Newt, he’s continuing to talk as he’s reaching to do so--]
Though maybe it should be D-Sci since it’s dragons and not kaiju--
Please, perhaps once you've studied them for a decade, and you can't--
[--click!]
[ooc: i'm so sorry (nikki isn't) but plz help!! -- they'd have mentioned DRAGON PIES WTF but backdated) ]

text;
d-sci sounds like it could, potentially, be the title of a film of questionable origin.
just saying.
and THAT said -
all i know about dragons is what i've learned from video games.
high constitution and heavy-handed attacks.
but they drop mad loot.
( there u go that's his two cents. enjoy that. )
text; 1/2
'Mad loot'. Indeed. I doubt these dragons will have 'loot', Mr. Cheng.
6.78 seconds later, text;
Though it isn't impossible.
text;
don't know until you actually bring one down, right?
this could all be one giant video game.
like inception, or something.
we must go deeper.
( would you please stop making pop culture references, for the love of actual christ. )
what's that saying.
eliminate the impossible and whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
don't you science types tend to believe that nothing is impossible?
text;
[ A part of him loathes that he is, with 100% sincerity, agreeing with the notion that it could be a video game. But again: Mr. Touchdown. The realization at that time, given Dr. Harper, it was possible that in one of infinite universes, there was a world where they were played by the same actor in pieces of fiction.
Not, perhaps, the most likely of the explanations for the resemblance, but possible. ]
Sherlock Holmes, then Star Trek, isn't it? However, if nothing is impossible, then we can't very well eliminate it to reach the true improbable, can we?
text;
isn't cross-referencing a useful tool?
( hermann might be more inclined to actually believe that here is a decent probability that they're stuck in a video game, but henry himself is more given to believing that there are just ... some elements that have been taken from other media sources and smashed together to make whatever the cave city is ... what it is. a veritable cornucopia of both weird and potentially dangerous.
he might as well start thinking he's been sucked into a final fantasy that hasn't been released yet. a darker sort.
and there have been some pretty dark storylines.)mm.
if we go the route of star trek, then we can only say that we must boldly go where no one has gone before.
and in that respect, i suppose that could potentially mean slicing open some giant lizards.
text; i'm sorry
[ Hermann would also accept Mr. Cheng's alternative theory. Even as one with a much high probability. The Door even encourages that very sloppy amalgamation.
He has not, however, ever played Final Fantasy. ]
Yet, chances are high that in worlds with dragons, men have indeed gone to that very place, i.e. slicing open giant lizards. Therefore, it is inapplicable, though it was inapplicable to begin with, because you used the initial saying to argue for dragons having loot. Now, you advocate more generally for attacking the dragons.
Related hypotheses, perhaps, as the theoretically to obtain the loot one would need attack, but the act of 'boldly going' contributes nothing to the odds of loot.
text; you should be but i'm not so here u go
it's a bit more difficult to parse out alternative meanings via text, you know?
do explain.
( h-henry ... please ... don't do that. don't troll your tentative bro-in-science. )
i'm
really
really
sorry
i even thought to try to make that sort of reference
i should have known you were going to get all technical on me
( dude he even forgot to use punctuation.
look what you did. )
do you do that often, by the way?
write out novels to debunk references made by teenagers in order to lighten the mood?
do you hate fun things, dr. gottlieb?
permatext;
[ Honestly, he cannot even tell he did anything. He has low expectations for the youth and their usage of punctuation in text messages. With only three previous text messages for comparison, a lack here does not stand out. ]
Your definition of a 'novel' gives me concern for the state of English and Literature classes in America. I also have little occasion to debunk teenagers.
Newton regularly tells me that I do.
[ Is he serious? Who knows... ]
text;
i dunno if these dragons would drop standard gold coin loot, but i'm ttly hoping that they at least provide something 2 study
text;
that came well before me.
well, if you get close enough to one to cut it open ...
you'll surely find out, won't you?
or are you leaving that to the rest of us?
text;
maybe i can at least get some pics and diagrams and stuff of a corpse, but they're so big that actually dissecting them would take way too long and we have a lack of a large enough freezer to store the body in.
text;
why not cut it up into manageable pieces?
at least that way you would be working with a smaller specimen and your efforts wouldn't be wasted.
( henry are you really doing this. are you really following this thought process.
good lord. )
