--we’re talking about dragons, Hermann! There’s no way you’re doing this in a stuffy text post!

[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]

[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.

Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]

Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--

[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]

--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.

We are requesting data--

[and that’s about the time Newt’s managed to prop the camera up somewhere, and pops fully into view.]

--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.

[and tbh that’s about as much of serious professional as Newt is going to be able to get before really yeah okay he has to fold and his face splits into a wide grin] Also real, live dragons, you guys. Dragons! This is seriously some King Arthur level shit! How cool is this?!

[ observe the look of deep, deep, depthless chagrin as it settles into the lines of Dr. Gottlieb's face, lines carved by almost seven years of this.

Videos if they may be safely obtained, observations, specifics, as specific as possible. Note the effectiveness of your standard weaponry, or whatever it is you can do and use. The scales would, indeed, be particularly helpful.

So I'm looking for those dragons now, but while I'm hunting: what's with those kaiju? I mean, aliens, seriously? What're they like? Like, are we talking tentacles or big black eyes or Alien kind, like, mouths that come outta other mouths and they attach to your face or . . . give me a hint.

You have experience with larger monsters. What sort of tactics would you suggest in dealing with these?

[ As for that, it's... a touch complicated. ]

Well -- [ dryly, an inside joke of an especially bitter sort ] -- not a wall.

[ Ahem. But. ]

The tactics we employed are likely not possible here. Partially, it is because the kaiju were impractically large. Up to 100 meters tall, close to 3,000 tons in weight, we were insects to them. We had to go big, so to speak, first using nuclear weapons, then building machinery to match their scale.

These may be more responsive to less massive undertakings, happily for our limited resources.

If you can get me some video of them, I may be able to pinpoint some possible weak spots. For now, just off the top of my head, I'd aim for joints and tendons--like wing joints and stuff. Eyes, anything that seems like a membrane--stuff that would tear easily. I can't say just from looking at them what their physical structure is made out of--I can make guesses based on dinosaur anatomy but honestly that's about it.

Each appears to have a different attack specialty, from what I've seen. That's common for dragons, to be connected to a certain element... at least, the ones I'm used to where I'm from. They are not to be underestimated.

I'm tracking the black one closely at the moment. I may be able to provide you what you need... if we manage to bring it down.

[One thing Lea is learning very quickly about this place is that there are some real... interesting characters about. He adds these two to his list. He's never been a big fan of science (and he blames Vexen for that), but he can offer these guys a little help, actually. So I took on the blue one, actually. We put it down before it could turn the whole city into one big ice skating rink, but I did save a few scales. The sense in it does not escape him. An awful lot of possible meat. After those days in Haven, he truly cannot dismiss that value. Even as his mind initially struggles with it, those last dregs against the absurd.
