NOTIFICATION/REPORT #2 || BACKDATED TO 10-10 AFTERNOON
Attention: Hadriel Residents
Subject: Dragxkdksoe
[ Abruptly, the text is posted, with a video immediately following, the screen initially shaking, jostling, as one voice protests in the background ]
Newton, give it back--!!
--we’re talking about dragons, Hermann! There’s no way you’re doing this in a stuffy text post!
[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]
[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.
Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]
Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--
(Boyfriend!)
[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]
--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.
We are requesting data--
[and that’s about the time Newt’s managed to prop the camera up somewhere, and pops fully into view.]
--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.
[and tbh that’s about as much of serious professional as Newt is going to be able to get before really yeah okay he has to fold and his face splits into a wide grin] Also real, live dragons, you guys. Dragons! This is seriously some King Arthur level shit! How cool is this?!
[ observe the look of deep, deep, depthless chagrin as it settles into the lines of Dr. Gottlieb's face, lines carved by almost seven years of this.
LOUDLY: ]
Videos if they may be safely obtained, observations, specifics, as specific as possible. Note the effectiveness of your standard weaponry, or whatever it is you can do and use. The scales would, indeed, be particularly helpful.
Be safe, but be quick and be thorough.
Yeah, don’t die while doing it. That’d be dumb.
...Right. The sooner, the sooner we may be able to put something together.
So, like….chop chop and stuff. Thanks! K-Sci, out!
[aaand yep gonna turn off that video now, though because he’s Newt, he’s continuing to talk as he’s reaching to do so--]
Though maybe it should be D-Sci since it’s dragons and not kaiju--
Please, perhaps once you've studied them for a decade, and you can't--
[--click!]
[ooc: i'm so sorry (nikki isn't) but plz help!! -- they'd have mentioned DRAGON PIES WTF but backdated) ]

video;
You sure? And here I thought you scientific types were of a more persuasive... persuasion.
video;
You shouldn't generalize.

Okay, my bad. In my experience, scientific folk have been pretty quick haggle and make demands. I just figured you might be interested. [And you don't get something for nothing, after all.]
no subject
[ And people here tend to help one another out without expecting haggling and demands. Hermann remains utterly uninterested. ]
I appreciate your consideration. You don't need both of us for the barter.
[ ...definitely trying to punt this to Newton, yes... ]
no subject
[Sorry, Hermann. Lea's a reasonable fellow, but he doesn't put any chips on the table until somebody antes up first; too many years spent having no agency or leverage.]
no subject
He truly does not care. ]
Is your stance similar on information?

no subject
I'd like to know 1) if you alone defeated the dragon, and 2) how you did it.
Were you sure to pay it forward, whatever useful information you got out of that guide?
no subject
One: [He holds up one finger.] It was defeated, but I didn't land the kill-stroke. I was on my way home and was sort of interrupted by suddenly dragon in my way, and this girl named Ahsoka was fighting it. Couldn't in good conscience leave her to try and take it down all by her lonesome, you know? And twp: [One more finger.] Mostly I played decoy and kept it distracted while she hacked away at it with her... laser... swordy... thingies. [This is accompanied by some vague hand gestures that may or may not resemble how one might hold a sword.] I'm not certain if we just eventually wore it down, or if she actually struck a specific killing blow, though. We were hammering on it for a while.
[He lifts his eyebrows in something like surprise then.]
Oh, did you have something to do with the guide? It definitely clarified a few things. [He waves a hand.] Look, I wasn't tryin'ta be a jerk, really, I'm just covering my ass, you know? Nothing stings quite like getting hoisted by your own petard.
1/2
Then, I could ask Miss Ahsoka, couldn't I?
no subject
Thank you, in any case.
Ultimately, no. I had made some motions but over-complicated. Mr. Mello saw to it. My point was more general, rather than suggesting you owed me anything. In a new environment such as this, caution is of course warranted. I'm taking nothing personally.
no subject
[He gives a nod then. He knows he can be a little abrasive, but he honestly wasn't making an effort to be difficult so much as he was just being cautious. Hermann's not taking it personally is a point toward his being a reasonable fellow Lea may be willing to work with in the future, at least.]
I appreciate your understanding, ah... Hermann, was it? You and your pal there, you're like... research doctors, more than turn your head and cough, doctors, I take it.
