NOTIFICATION/REPORT #2 || BACKDATED TO 10-10 AFTERNOON

Attention: Hadriel Residents
Subject: Dragxkdksoe

[ Abruptly, the text is posted, with a video immediately following, the screen initially shaking, jostling, as one voice protests in the background ]

Newton, give it back--!!

--we’re talking about dragons, Hermann! There’s no way you’re doing this in a stuffy text post!

[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]

[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.

Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]

Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--

(Boyfriend!)

[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]

--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.

We are requesting data--

[and that’s about the time Newt’s managed to prop the camera up somewhere, and pops fully into view.]

--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.

[and tbh that’s about as much of serious professional as Newt is going to be able to get before really yeah okay he has to fold and his face splits into a wide grin] Also real, live dragons, you guys. Dragons! This is seriously some King Arthur level shit! How cool is this?!

[ observe the look of deep, deep, depthless chagrin as it settles into the lines of Dr. Gottlieb's face, lines carved by almost seven years of this.

LOUDLY: ]

Videos if they may be safely obtained, observations, specifics, as specific as possible. Note the effectiveness of your standard weaponry, or whatever it is you can do and use. The scales would, indeed, be particularly helpful.

Be safe, but be quick and be thorough.

Yeah, don’t die while doing it. That’d be dumb.

...Right. The sooner, the sooner we may be able to put something together.

So, like….chop chop and stuff. Thanks! K-Sci, out!

[aaand yep gonna turn off that video now, though because he’s Newt, he’s continuing to talk as he’s reaching to do so--]

Though maybe it should be D-Sci since it’s dragons and not kaiju--

Please, perhaps once you've studied them for a decade, and you can't--

[ Well, she can't actually blame him for that reaction. She wishes there was a little bit of warning, a little something to ease people into it. Unfortunately, there's not. She's aware that they're aware of what she is, what she's done but... A recent conversation with someone has her feeling a bit more experimental with her true form as of late.

Hopefully, Hermann will forgive her for the surprise shift.
]

Not dragons, no, but... Oni, sometimes. They're, like, giant uhm. Trolls? I think is the human equivalent. Their weakness is they aren't too bright even if they're ridiculously huge and strong.

A handful of them. I only took down one that size. Most are no bigger than me, but... They're the ones off the top of my head.

I haven't fought any of them but you have the gods, of course. Not like these gods, but uh. Hm. Fūjin is the wind god and he can take up a good portion of the sky whenever he passes over.

[ What else? There's so many of them it can be hard to kind of hard to recall specific yokai. ]

There's also the Gashadokuro, which I think are... fifteen times bigger than the average person? They're basically giant walking skeletons. They like to eat people who travel alone after midnight in the countryside but otherwise aren't too dangerous.

[ This was her life, Hermann. THIS WAS HER LIFE. ]

Another god, maybe. Raijin is the god of thunder and he's just as huge and a total spitfire, apparently. He hides himself in the clouds though so it's rare anyone sees him.

[ At his sarcastic comment, she can't help but let out a huff of a laugh. ]

Well, hey! You're not supposed to travel alone at night anyway, right? Most people seem to chalk it up to other people being dangerous, but... [ A sigh, now. Her ears flatten back against her head as she tries to think of how to word it. ] Humans can sense when things are dangerous. Even when they don't know what the exact reason is, they warn other humans. Different cultures tell different stories to explain these uneasy feelings, those stories change with time, so on and so forth. But some yokai definitely are the danger that live on the edges of humanity.

[ It's... a little touchy, considering she's supposed to be one of those dangers in the night herself. She is, in her mind. With good reason, too.

The woman is quick to bounce back though with a smile at the ready as she continues.
]

But we're not all bad, of course! Some are pretty benevolent... Some like to play tricks on humans, like kitsunes, the foxes, but they mean no actual harm.
