NOTIFICATION/REPORT #2 || BACKDATED TO 10-10 AFTERNOON
Attention: Hadriel Residents
Subject: Dragxkdksoe
[ Abruptly, the text is posted, with a video immediately following, the screen initially shaking, jostling, as one voice protests in the background ]
Newton, give it back--!!
--we’re talking about dragons, Hermann! There’s no way you’re doing this in a stuffy text post!
[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]
[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.
Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]
Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--
(Boyfriend!)
[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]
--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.
We are requesting data--
[and that’s about the time Newt’s managed to prop the camera up somewhere, and pops fully into view.]
--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.
[and tbh that’s about as much of serious professional as Newt is going to be able to get before really yeah okay he has to fold and his face splits into a wide grin] Also real, live dragons, you guys. Dragons! This is seriously some King Arthur level shit! How cool is this?!
[ observe the look of deep, deep, depthless chagrin as it settles into the lines of Dr. Gottlieb's face, lines carved by almost seven years of this.
LOUDLY: ]
Videos if they may be safely obtained, observations, specifics, as specific as possible. Note the effectiveness of your standard weaponry, or whatever it is you can do and use. The scales would, indeed, be particularly helpful.
Be safe, but be quick and be thorough.
Yeah, don’t die while doing it. That’d be dumb.
...Right. The sooner, the sooner we may be able to put something together.
So, like….chop chop and stuff. Thanks! K-Sci, out!
[aaand yep gonna turn off that video now, though because he’s Newt, he’s continuing to talk as he’s reaching to do so--]
Though maybe it should be D-Sci since it’s dragons and not kaiju--
Please, perhaps once you've studied them for a decade, and you can't--
[--click!]
[ooc: i'm so sorry (nikki isn't) but plz help!! -- they'd have mentioned DRAGON PIES WTF but backdated) ]

Indeed? Is it Miss Alphys or Dr. Alphys?
It rather depends. We have limited resources, but may have enough moving, mechanical parts to manage something -- either that would pierce a scale or offset a particular attack. Defense, some sort of shield perhaps, might be the most useful.

... I honestly didn't k-know anyone else here was, uh, going to be interested in studying them, as oppose to just, uh, going in guns blazing, y-you know?
[She looks back to Sans, like she needs approval on the matter. Does he know these two?]
no subject
She's a genius, and her specialties're right up your guys's proverbial alley. You already spend enough time science-flirting as it is, [he adds, dismissively, like that has anything to do with anything.]
1/2
[ Hermann sits up a touch straighter. He's reluctant to agree with Mr. Sans these days, but right up a proverbial alley seems accurate. ]
I'm not sure how much help any of us can be, but it's certainly worth the effort.
[ It would be a refreshing change if there was something they, he could do. Something even to assist the superhuman. He'd have further commented on the merits of studying them rather than guns blazing -- and fully expects Newton to launch in on that, given his particular sensitivity to that subject, his frequent arguments with the pilots -- when -- ]
no subject
Science-flirting? I beg your pardon?
JUMPS IN HERE 8D
[as for that other bit] Hey, Sans, I take offense to that. I'll have you know, we regular-flirt also. [:>>>>>>]
GOOD
Well, uhm, back where, uh, we're b-both from, most materials have to be scavenged, uhm, anyway, so I'm pretty used to w-working with secondhand material. I don't know what, uh, any of it can d-do against dragons but, with more data, we could at least f-fortify some sort of safehouse??
no subject
Dr. Alphys, meet Doctors Noot and Sherman. [Witty banter and deliberate misnomers makes this all less awkward, right? Totally.]
Seein' as structural integrity doesn't seem to do much against these things, I'd say that's a pretty good plan.
1/2
[ Dr. Hermann Gottlieb of the terrific first impression spitting title implosions. ]
no subject
--but I don't disagree with the rest of it. If they don't prove easily felled, we may need to prioritize fortifying the extant buildings, beginning with a safehouse.
no subject
[and he grins]--but scavenged material can go a long way. I've worked with a bunch of that also, so maybe we can put something really solid together.
no subject
Do we, uhm, have anything to protect against a-all of that? Anything being exposed to, uhm, c-contrasting elements like that would weaken quickly. Unless we just, uhm, make some sort of b-big wall until someone els deals with the problem.
[She's very used to hiding behind things while Someone Else Deals With The Problem. That's a solid 90% of her problem solving skills.]
no subject
C'mon, Alph. We're a bunch of nerds. I mean, you all are. We got this whole nerd trio here, and you're sayin' we shouldn't crack this open like the wall-nut it is?
[That's a one-way ticket to ting-tang walla-walla bing-nope.]
Why not somethin' with a little more oomph?
no subject
Respectfully, Dr. Alphys, not a wall. It isn't a matter of prioritizing oomph, though it may come to sound like it.
Regardless, wall or safehouse, we would have the same problem with a barrage of contrasting elements. It seems much more practical to focus on each dragon and consider particularized defensive and offensive approaches. They have not yet acted in concert; whether or not they would I obviously cannot say.
no subject
Definitely, definitely not a wall.
[anyway] The more information we can get about them, the more likely a counter attack is to succeed. And maybe something we build out of junk can be something to help with that.
no subject
Well, uh, I'm not very w-well versed in building weapons, but, I'm sure I can throw some things together, figure s-something out? At this point the best thing might be, uhm, k-keeping them separated. I can imagine someone might be able to, uhm, take down one, but n-not multiple at a time.
no subject
Well you got to makin' stuff for defensive purposes, right? Lasers, robots, that kinda thing.
[Very cautiously avoiding all mention of Mettaton. 'Cause, uh, yeah. That probably won't go over real well.]
no subject
There is a cliche about defense as it relates and contributes to offense. Such experience would not be remiss. Helping those on the offense to better protect themselves is worthwhile. And, yes, we'd best keep them apart.
no subject
no subject
[Lots of experience in lasers.]
Maybe we could just be... like, t-the nuisance committee? Building things to keep them busy s-so more, uh, strategically minded people could coordinate. Bright blinking lights, weird sounds, catapults full of garbage??
no subject
[The "nuisance committee," oh my god. He kinda loves it.]
Good one.
