NOTIFICATION/REPORT #2 || BACKDATED TO 10-10 AFTERNOON
Attention: Hadriel Residents
Subject: Dragxkdksoe
[ Abruptly, the text is posted, with a video immediately following, the screen initially shaking, jostling, as one voice protests in the background ]
Newton, give it back--!!
--we’re talking about dragons, Hermann! There’s no way you’re doing this in a stuffy text post!
[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]
[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.
Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]
Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--
(Boyfriend!)
[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]
--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.
We are requesting data--
[and that’s about the time Newt’s managed to prop the camera up somewhere, and pops fully into view.]
--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.
[and tbh that’s about as much of serious professional as Newt is going to be able to get before really yeah okay he has to fold and his face splits into a wide grin] Also real, live dragons, you guys. Dragons! This is seriously some King Arthur level shit! How cool is this?!
[ observe the look of deep, deep, depthless chagrin as it settles into the lines of Dr. Gottlieb's face, lines carved by almost seven years of this.
LOUDLY: ]
Videos if they may be safely obtained, observations, specifics, as specific as possible. Note the effectiveness of your standard weaponry, or whatever it is you can do and use. The scales would, indeed, be particularly helpful.
Be safe, but be quick and be thorough.
Yeah, don’t die while doing it. That’d be dumb.
...Right. The sooner, the sooner we may be able to put something together.
So, like….chop chop and stuff. Thanks! K-Sci, out!
[aaand yep gonna turn off that video now, though because he’s Newt, he’s continuing to talk as he’s reaching to do so--]
Though maybe it should be D-Sci since it’s dragons and not kaiju--
Please, perhaps once you've studied them for a decade, and you can't--
[--click!]
[ooc: i'm so sorry (nikki isn't) but plz help!! -- they'd have mentioned DRAGON PIES WTF but backdated) ]

...Okay, so maybe I was kinda pouring it on there. Heh.
I did try to delete it, though. Honest. That was just supposed to go to Newt, seein' how he was the one who was talkin' about D-Sci an' all.
I mean, I'm not really sure what the big deal is-- you two aren't exactly good at hiding it-- but uh. Yeah. My bad. Didn't mean to out you guys like that.
no subject
[ Acid corroding that emphasis.
Then he huffs, his weight shifting, his fingers spidering on the cane's handle. ]
Obviously he did the outing. You were intolerably graphic.
[ When he was trying to be professional and elicit useful responses. It was inappropriate. Besides -- ]
It isn't a matter of hiding. There is a difference between not broadcasting it and actively hiding it. It is our business.
[ He isn't ashamed of it, or of Newton (shocking, perhaps, to the casual observer). It's personal. He's a man who still goes by Dr. Gottlieb and used titles with all but the closest individuals. ]
no subject
Yeah, I know. That's just the kinda guy I am, y'know? No filters.
...Which I really should've checked for before sendin' you that stupid text, obviously. Just me shootin' my mouth off without thinkin' like usual. Or fingers in this case, I guess. I'll try to use the ol' noggin before I pull a stunt like that again.
Okay? Are we cool? Please tell me we're cool. 'Cause right now I feel like I'm gettin chastised by my favorite professor here. Not a good feeling.
no subject
What he cannot bring himself to ask, yet weighs: can he really hear them? It's only recently, very recently, this last week, that they've really -- but --
Hermann frowns at him as he goes on, and really, it's my favorite professor that does him in. His expression eases, or sags, with a sigh. ]
Yes, Mr. Deadpool, we are 'cool.' I suppose it's something that you -- that you actually care.
[ That he would be sheepish and not intend to embarrass him. The damage is done. Hopefully no one will take him seriously. Even if they do, dragons must take precedence, right? ]
no subject
'Course I care! I'm happy for you guys. S'good that something good came out of that bullshit city, at least.
no subject
but, softly, ]
...Yes.
[ And, awkwardly, with a small, tentative smile of his own -- ]
I am, er, also glad that I -- that we -- were able to meet you, Mr. Deadpool -- Wade.
no subject
...C'mere, man. Hug it out.
[He doesn't bother waiting for a response, drawing the much smaller man into a tight embrace. Wade's more prone to hugs these days, he finds-- more susceptible to the urges of physical affection that his machismo tends to steer him away from under normal circumstances. He supposes the PTSD is to blame, but he can't really bring himself to be bothered by it.
Wade breaks it off after a few seconds, gripping the other man roughly by the shoulder blades.]
There we go, that's better. Glad we're still buddies. I'd hate to think I made you legit mad at me, y'know? I mean, it's funny when you and Newt are goin' at it-- like an adorable old married couple-- but I definitely wouldn't wanna be on the receiving end.
no subject
[ Yes, this seems to be happening. Hermann pats at Wade's back, awkward and with too much gusto, perhaps. It is not unpleasant. It is... nice. ]
Yes, all right.
[ Strangely, he doesn't seem to find the subsequent treatment of his shoulders objectionable, either. Adorable married couple, however... a fleeting scowl, his eyes rolling. ]
Please don't use that term. In any case, as long as Newton's around, you probably haven't got much to worry about.
[ He only gets 'legit mad' at Newton. It is how they function. Or dysfunction. ]
no subject
That very mature eyeroll on Hermann's end earns an answering shrug from Wade-- if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, and the two ducks bicker like they've been at this for thirty years...]
Little guy helps you blow off steam, huh? I feel ya. I'm kinda jealous, not gonna lie.
no subject
I cannot say I care for how you phrased that --
[ Because even after five or nearing seven years, with Haven, Hermann remains in denial of a need to 'blow off steam', that he may have a particular itch that only Newton can scratch. It doesn't fit with his image of himself.
Yet -- far more striking, sobering enough to prevent a true protest, is Mr. Deadpool's admission. It quiets him. ]
-- an odd thing to be jealous of.
no subject
Well, I mean-- putting aside your little "Odd Couple" routine? There's actually a lot about you guys to be jealous of. ...Um.
[That might have been way more sincere than he'd intended. Wade feels his face grow hot, and one hand awkwardly rubs at the back of his neck.]
Y-you get what I mean, right?
