[ Abruptly, the text is posted, with a video immediately following, the screen initially shaking, jostling, as one voice protests in the background ]

--we’re talking about dragons, Hermann! There’s no way you’re doing this in a stuffy text post!

[ The video stabilizes a bit, currently held just out of reach of one (1) Hermann Gottlieb. The arm holding said phone out of reach belongs to one (1) Newt Geiszler. It’s debatable how long he’ll be able to keep it out of Hermann’s grasp, but he sure is going to try.]

[ For a petulant, tortured moment Hermann sincerely looks as though he is about to lunge for the phone, a matter of aggrieved principle and standard outrage. Yet, 1.53 seconds and he thinks better of it. They are recording. He would be seen looking foolish.

Hermann grits his teeth and straightens, standing up, all stiff professionalism as he leans on his cane. He has rarely used video. He hates this. Newton will hear about it later, once the video is off. ]

Fine. As you may know, I am Dr. Gottlieb, that is my colleague--

(Boyfriend!)

[ They are recording. A muscle works in his jaw, but Hermann swallows his protest, resists the urge to throw something at or strangle Newton, and continues-- ]

--Dr. Geiszler. In our world, we worked in Kaiju Science, which to put it succinctly, means we studied the behemoth -- larger than these dragons, I assure you -- alien creatures invading our world, and aided the development and design of offensive and defensive weaponry.

We are requesting data--

[and that’s about the time Newt’s managed to prop the camera up somewhere, and pops fully into view.]

--basically I want any info anyone has about the dragons! Flight patterns, movements, where they’re hanging out, their favorite color--seriously, anything and everything. You notice it, I wanna know it! Aaaaand if you can get scales or something, that’d be super helpful. Or any other bits. The more there is to analyze, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to throw something together.

[and tbh that’s about as much of serious professional as Newt is going to be able to get before really yeah okay he has to fold and his face splits into a wide grin] Also real, live dragons, you guys. Dragons! This is seriously some King Arthur level shit! How cool is this?!

[ observe the look of deep, deep, depthless chagrin as it settles into the lines of Dr. Gottlieb's face, lines carved by almost seven years of this.

Videos if they may be safely obtained, observations, specifics, as specific as possible. Note the effectiveness of your standard weaponry, or whatever it is you can do and use. The scales would, indeed, be particularly helpful.

It's no trouble. Fighting dragons is a specialty of mine.

[There's a pause as he's on the move, dragon roars all too obvious in the distance.]

I haven't seen any elemental attacks out of her so far, but I've noticed she's incredibly vicious with physical attacks. She's one of the quicker ones I've seen too.

Seriously? [Newt sounds very interested in this bit of info] I mean--is that a common thing in your world? People trained for combat with dragons?

Quicker? How so? She just moves faster, or her reactions, or how she's built--?

Only we dragoons are trained in that particular style of combat. We're an entire force, a specialized division of knights who emulate dragons.

[Baron's greatest, at one time, before the Red Wings came along.]

She's large, I believe I saw another of the dragons and it was much smaller... but this one... I'm surprised by how fast she is for her size. What she lacks in breath... as far as I've seen... she's making up for with tooth and claw.

Who emulate dragons? What does that mean?

[anyway, bout that dragon] So she's got both brute strength and speed? I mean, no breath, so she's like a tank. Is there a particular combat she seems to favor? Or a method of attack? I mean, like--if you were to compare her to another type of animal--a normal animal--what would you choose?

Our armor is made to resemble dragons, but beyond that, we've learned much from observing them which we adapted over the ages into our own fighting style. The way we jump and move in the air... we can soar far above the battlefield to take down our enemies from above. Some of my attacks can even make use of the wind itself.

[Dragooning is probably his favorite topic, so he can't help going on about it.]

Right, no breath, but those claws are sharp and serious. Actually, those claws seem to be how she prefers to attack, first... I've seen her attempt to carry people away with them. She also has more impressive stamina than most. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a regeneration ability of some sort...

That's...really freakin awesome! [OH MY GOD THOUGH] Dude, I like, need to pick your brain at some point. You gotta tell me all about dragons and stuff. We don't have them in my world except in, like, fiction.

[he pauses to listen to the description of the dragon]

Regeneration....I wonder if that's in her blood or it's a magical thing. [he's contemplating this] Hey, if you can manage to get any footage of her, I could seriously use that.

I would be glad to tell you all I know about them. I've been fascinated by them for as long as I can remember, and it's something of a family legacy. That's... too bad, though... I've never heard of a world without dragons before.

[Even the others in the gods' war had come from places with dragons and magic and so on. It's certainly weird to him to imagine a world without such things.]

I'll see what I can do, I'm approaching her new location... I'm... [He grumbles under his breath, moving the phone around to try and get a better angle. This can't be too hard, right? Right.] ...not used to these devices... I still find it incredible that you can see what I'm seeing like this. You don't have dragons where you're from, I don't have phones.

Nah, dude, we've got giant alien monsters instead.

[Newt grins a bit wider, leaning into the screen a bit to see if he can see a dragon in that picture] Do you have any magical communication instead or something?

Alien... Ah, as in... from off the planet? That must be frustrating. Our moon is teeming with monsters, I fought them up there.

[Not to mention the evil moon mage who tried destroying their world. But that's another story for another time. Yes, they can do space travel but not phones in his world, go figure.]

Magical communication is... rare, but there are some who've used telepathy. Usually it's simply letters- [He's interrupted by an echoing roar, and then there's the figure of the black dragon swooping into view for a moment.]

Uh, yeah, off-planet. We don't actually have access to more than one planet yet, and we just barely have access to our moon, but definitely not on a regular basis at all. [except--hold on] Hold on--you've been to your moon? What's THAT like?

[except wait a minute IS THAT THE DRAGON]

Woah, shit, was that her?!

That's her.

[He tries to follow the dragon's path with the phone, and while he's still not the best at keeping it steady, the dragon mostly stays in the picture.] As for the moon... It's a long story. [He returns to that thought for a moment, pausing as he adjusts position.] We took a specialized airship up. [Then he gasps as the dragon lets out an echoing roar and swoops away. Time to run!] She's on the move, hold on!
