Guard, report in. Long story short in case you missed the memo: there are demons in the city.

[There's the sound of shuffling paper. He's been taking notes from what's come up on the network about these things.]

Inquisitor Trevelyan is closing the tears they're coming through, but until she gets to them all, it's our job to keep folks safe. Stick to your patrols, send word if you need backup, and if it comes right down to it, do what you need to do.

[He signs off with that. Time to keep trying to get a hold of the actual leaders of the Guard. Them being missing is not a good sign.]

Demons would be a hard memo to miss.

[ her tone is almost unreasonably playful for the situation, but that only lasts for the introductory sentence. then it's all business, the voice of someone who's used to military precision when it comes to her danger. ]

I've been keeping an eye out to help where I can, but if you have organizational suggestions, I'm listening. I'm Ahsoka, by the way. I don't think we've met.

We haven't. Nick Valentine, with the City Guard. We appreciate all the help we can get, especially in times like this.

[There's a quiet sigh on his end as he check the routes. With Maketh and Henry MIA...]

If you don't mind, we've got a blind spot up near the north end of town, by the spires and the Colosseum. I'm not sure if any of these tears are up that far, but if you can keep an eye on the area, I'd appreciate it. You got a weapon?

[And combat experience to use it, he hopes. She certainly sounds like she means business.]

Yes, I have my lightsabers. Nothing I can do with the Force seems to affect these demons the way other things that look like magic might, but they're as susceptible to getting cut into pieces as anything else.

[ so she can chop their limbs off and toss them around a little. it works, in a pinch. ]

[The Force. He'll dig through his data bank later to see if that's a term he's heard somewhere on the network before. There are more important things to do right now.]

Whatever gets the job done. Just be careful of anyone who might be possessed by one of these things. If demons are taking bodies out for a joyride, there's no telling what kind of trouble they'll make, given some of the folks here.

[fulcra]

No kidding. [ she pauses thoughtfully. ] Do we have any distinct ways of telling when someone's been possessed? Or do I just aim to help everyone being attacked and hope that's the sign?

[synthedick]

That'd be a start. What I've heard is that they won't be acting like themselves if they're possessed, but that only works for people you know to begin with. The real obvious way to tell if they're playing host to something from another world is if they turn into some kind of monstrous Abomination.

[fulcra]

I see. I guess that would be the most obvious sign. Still, I'll keep my eyes open.

[synthedick]

I appreciate it. I'll send word if I hear of anything else that might help us, but for now, let's keep safe who we can.

[fulcra]

Affirmative. I'll check back if anything especially out of the ordinary happens.

[ a pause. ]

And... thanks, for the broadcast. I hadn't heard anything from anyone yet.

That's not normal, believe me.

[fulcra]

There's usually more coordination than this?

[voice; private]

[There's a second's pause, and then he swaps this over to a private transmission because not everyone needs to know this -- not that he knows if he can trust this Ahsoka any farther than he can throw her, but he's going with this gut on this one. It's in a detective's best interest that it doesn't often lead him wrong.]

Henry Percy and Maketh Tua are the ones who head up the Guard. They usually put out a call to arms the moment trouble rolls into the town, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of them since this all started.

[fulcra]

[ well that's not good. the problem with a place in constant danger means it's hard to pinpoint anything in particular going wrong, but this certainly feels like a time where she should have sensed something. ]

I see. [ there's a brief pause of hesitation. ] I've met them both, but you're more familiar with them than I am. Do you think we should worry?

[synthedick]

They can handle themselves, but if folks as capable as them are so tied up that they can't lead the charge, I'd hate to think what that means for the general public.

[He's expecting at least a few deaths out of this. How long until the gods decide they're not worth bringing back?]

[fulcra]

It means that large scale planning doesn't matter. It doesn't always. I know that we'd like to be organized, but with enemies like this, sometimes it's better to take it block by block, protecting who we can in the moment and securing safe spaces.

[ but still... she's never actually seen maketh in action and while she doesn't doubt the woman's training, it's an ally she finds herself concerned for. ]

It's going to be fine.
