[In the background can be heard the thudding, drilling noises that started early this morning and haven't stopped for a moment since. While they're still faint enough that it's possible to ignore them, that won't be the case for long.

Hope looks determined, but there's worry visible there too.]

They've found us. If you are on this side, with Fear and I, we need your help. I would ask you to venture into the caves around the city and collapse them - Rage will provide explosives for this, or if you have abilities that make it possible, use them. Go as deep as you can and destroy them on the way back in. We need it to be as difficult as possible for them to get here.

[He winces as a particularly loud noise echoes through the cave.]

It will be dangerous. There are still monsters in there. But we have no other choice - this is the only way to ensure our survival until Fear can transport us out. Thank you for your help.

[The video flickers off. Hope's responses will be brief and limited, as he is quite busy trying to keep everyone alive.]

We need better organization than this. People are going to get lost and killed if we all head into the caves without a plan.

Monsters or not, it's a matter of survival, isn't it? And I wish you will eventually share with us how they keep tracking the city even if it's moved by magic every time.

I hate explosions and I'm afraid of fire... I suppose my place will be near the explosives in the caves. I was raised underground, I may not be the best person for this job but at least I know how to move fast in small galleries and how to hide when needed.

Where do we pick the explosives up?

I'm afraid that is not my area of expertise. Sorrow has always been our strategist.

They haven't been tracking the city. We've moved regularly out of caution - they've never come so close to us before. They've never found us before.

I can do strategy - I just need more information. How many caves are we talking about? Where is Rage going to have the explosives for us? I suppose I'd have to ask her what kind they are, right?

So they're just... drilling in all directions? Randomly?

As many as you can. They are coming from multiple directions, and the more barriers we can put in their way, the better. The explosives will be by the cave entrances - I would assume they won't be identical to anything from your world.

No. They were searching for us. As far as I know, they haven't drilled before, so something is different this time. They know where we are.

[ They're likely not far from one another, but: ] I suggest people work in teams, preferably teams consisting of someone with explosives knowledge and then people to provide backup and protection.

Exactly. We need to figure out who our skilled fighters are, who would be best at keeping the monsters from attacking the rest of the group, who's armed. Each team needs to have someone to keep a head count and make sure no one gets left behind, and the detonations need to be timed so no one's caught in the explosion. I know my way around explosives, and I can provide light inside the caves, but I don't think the knives I've got on me are going to be much good against whatever's lurking in there.

Probably not, but I'm sure I can figure it out. Is there anything you can tell us about what we're up against? Anything at all that would help us be better prepared? What about structural weaknesses of the caves?

But wasn't Fear costantly moving us around?

Anyway, the more important thing is: how would they know where to find you guys? Any idea of what could guide them in our direction?

They adapt themselves easily, and are good at exploiting the weaknesses of their enemies. It's best if we can keep them from breaching the city cave at all - if we are quick, none of us will have to face them.

The caves will be somewhat less confusing with Confusion on the other side of the city, and likely less stable.

He was. We stayed on the move because we knew they were searching for us.

And that is a good question. I'm not fond of the possible answers. For now, we must focus on the immediate problem.

Okay, that makes sense. Sorry for all those questions but the situation isn't exactly peachy for us as well and we know far less than you guys.

Like... someone from the inside contacting them? we may focus on the immediate problem now but the how should be resolved too as soon as possible or emergency situations like this one will just repeat themselves.

Ah, sorry, I'm doing it again... moving to the caves!

OK ... good, that's good. One last question - I know we'll need to work as quickly as possible, but do you have an estimate of time until they reach us?

[That note of worry is enough to cut through the rush of thoughts already clicking away in Mello's sharp mind and bring him screeching back to the present. He's been so busy considering the larger picture - what needs to be done to secure the group's survival - that consideration for his own safety has mostly fallen by the wayside. He's not used to having people care about him like Sharon does, and it still catches him off guard sometimes.

This isn't a conversation they should be having over the network. Mello tucks his phone away in a pocket and goes to find Sharon in person; she's not far away. He hesitates for a moment once he finds her, mouth drawn in a taut, worried line. When he does speak, his voice is quiet, gentle, but resolved.]

I can't just do nothing, Sharon. This is too big, too important - it affects all of us.

The fiends will be eradicated at once.

[He says confidently since he'll make sure to see to that himself.]

It's best that we have several teams of people venture into the caves and ensure the denotation goes successful. The last we need is another setback.

[Regis pauses briefly.]

Is there anyone willing to assist?

[ Oh fuck, Shadow is going in the caves, too? Yeah, that's fine. The people she cares about will just be on the front lines while she fucks around with fog and monsters. That's fine. Just. Fucking. Dandy. ]

Please and thank you. [ Her words are thick, emotional. Fuck. ]

[He overhears this conversation just a moment after making his previous decree.]

If you are in need of fighters, then I'll assume you're also indeed of a skilled mage.

[While Regis might be a tad up in his years, he's quite different from your average gentleman.]

I wield magic that can halt the fiends in their tracks in the form a makeshift barrier. Nothing will be able to penetrate the barrier as long as I uphold it. However, ranged fighters will have to pick away at the incoming beasts since the wall will shatter if too many monsters attack it simultaneously.

I know that. [ It's not as if she'd ever tell him not to go. This is bigger than the two of them, even if all she wants to do is be entirely selfish and lock him away. She swallows back a growing lump in her throat, anxious and fearful. ]

What happens when he's out there and they don't manage to seal off all the tunnels? What happens when she can't be there to keep him safe, not that she's ever been so great at that particular job. ] I just don't want you going alone and I can't go with you.

Collapsing the tunnels shouldn't be a problem, but it'll be safer for me to go in alone. Will give fair warning to anyone first in order to prevent unnecessary casualties while collapsing caves.

[Destruction has always been her forte. Teamwork, not so much.]
