00:00:02 -- [Audio]

[If she was an actually good public speaker, there might be a clear lead-in to this discussion, introducing the problems and exactly why these thoughts came up. Unfortunately, Marian expects everybody else to make the same intuitive leaps and skip straight past the boring explanation that everyone knows, kidnapped from our own dimensions, trapped, used for food, etc etc.]

If our positions were suddenly reversed, and we had full control over the Door and the parasites who currently run our lives, what would you do? Would you simply see the Door destroyed after everyone who wanted to go home was sent back, or would you leave it intact? If you stayed here instead, what would you do? Would you let the gods be, or would you interfere in any way with their conflict with the other aliens of this place on one side of the other? Are there other options you'd consider?

Explain your rationale clearly, regardless of the position you'd take.

Oh. Any idiots planning to argue that 'the gods are wonderful people, really' [enjoy an overly saccharine simpering impression there for those few words] spare us all your Stockholm-syndrome induced mawkish blithering. Nobody wants to hear it, least of all me.

I would change the parameters. I'd rebrand this place as a tourist resort. I would very likely let the gods be - they all have useful qualities, in the right time and place. People would pay a fortune to come and fight monsters in Silent Hill if they could be assured of leaving alive.

Why would I be joking? Are you unaware of the existence of horror movies and thrill rides?

Not remotely - though it does come in handy for paying staff and the like. No. I'd do it for the sake of doing it. For having a place that would offer an utterly unique experience for every soul who touched it - for the joy of redecorating and repackaging and selling the experience.

And having my name over the door, of course.

I've thought about it a fair amount since arriving. I'm not living, where I'm from... so I believe that if I couldn't change that, I'd bring someone here and just keep things that way.

You seem particularly fired up today, Marian.

No. I'd destroy the door. By "keep it that way," I meant that I would prevent things from changing further where we are concerned. If this is hell, he deserves it, and I think it would be tolerable if I knew I could keep him here forever.

[This sounds like exactly the type of post for a nosy psychologist to get surely unwantedly involved in.]

I notice you didn't say what you'd do.

If you're going to ask the question, shouldn't you offer your own answer to it?

You were somewhat aggressive in your initial question, so surely it isn't surprising that anyone answering might be interested in gauging your opinion before saying anything.

[Also people really need to stop throwing around words with actual meanings, but that's not a battle he's about to pick just yet.]

Is there a particular reason you're approaching this in such a hostile manner?

[He's quiet while she talks, listening, and although she's still not exactly amiable he does appreciate the more toned-down explanation. And sure, he can understand where she's coming from to an extent, but--]

Your anger is certainly justified, and you don't need me to tell you that, but directing it at other people in the same situation isn't the best outlet.

[It's better for everyone if they're working together as much as possible and in that vein he decides to answer her initial question, even if he can't give much of one.]

For the reason you stated about not having been here long, I'm not entirely sure of my own answer to your question, but I'd be interested in choosing whatever benefits the most people, and prevents as much potential future harm as possible.

What Bianca said, actually.

Before you get all in a tizzy, too, some of us don't have worlds or lives to go back to. So I'd stay, if I could, and let the gods keep doing their thing. [ She would interfere with their war, too, if they were in danger. But she knows Marian doesn't want to hear that. ] Maybe there'd be more displaced people like me out there across all these different universes that'd want to stay too. Everyone else could come and go as they wanted, for a price. Whatever that would be. [ She doesn't care about fortune or fame attached to her name. ] It could be... kind of nice, I think.
