I will admit we did not have to deal with attacks, at least not close to the cave opening. There was nothing living there before we came, beyond some insects and bats.

But there are so few of us alive now who recall what it is to see the sky. Being underground is, on its own, no new hardship.

True. I have spent much of my time in the gardens of late. It is encouraging to see plants growing so readily down here.
