Code - 001 [Voice]
Just out of curiosity--
[Whistler's voice is just barely louder than a whisper as per usual]
--who else here didn't exactly roll off the assembly line with all their pieces in perfect working order?
[text]
Is this supposed to be self-reporting or are you looking for gossip from others ?
Re: [text]
Research. Thinking of making some changes.

Right now it sort of sucks in that department.

If I'm understanding what you mean by the metaphors does that make you some kind of psychologist or something like that? Or do you just have a passing interest ?
no subject
I don't mean the mental kind of pieces. I mean literal pieces. An arm or a leg etc. etc.
no subject
My bad! It's a common turn of phrase where I come from.
So you're a doctor, then?
no subject
And no, I'm no doctor. But I'm a person who has an interest in making this place more disability friendly.

It might also be smart to be preemptive since there's a hundred different ways to get a limb lobbed off around here.

[She gets it]
And I wanted to get a sense of who had what sorts of needs, y'know?
no subject
But I do know someone back home without an arm. I think even starting with the basic modifications for people without hands/arms and feet/legs is good since those people could come here at any time. and then of course there's wheelchairs to consider.

Way to be vague and slightly creepy, chief. Miiiiight wanna work on dat.
[His voice is full of good cheer, though, his accent snappy as usual.]

Don't really see how its the latter. But duly noted.

[He has a feeling he knows which one, but it never hurts to ask in a place like this, where there just might be other mechanical folks running around.]

The name's Nick Valentine.
[That'd be his way of offering to help.]
Re: [voice]
I've met some of the Guard folks. Miss Maketh, for one. She got me some things to help when I first arrived.
[voice]
[You know, most of the time. Nick knows her heart is in the right place, and that's what matters.]
And you can count me among those Guard folks you've met, now. Well, meeting over the phone.
Re: [voice]
[A beat]
Aha! So you're another one. How many of you are there? Guards, i mean?

text.
Do you need medical help, or are you asking this on behalf of a friend??
Re: text.
[Geez people are so distrusting]
I was thinking of making some changes to fix that.

Oh...that's actually really thoughtful. Smart. Probably necessary, now that I think about it.
I came in with everything intact. So did someone else I know, from my world. Any of the basic needs we've needed have been met, too? They should be for people with disabilities too...
Any ideas on how to make that happen?
no subject
I was hoping people could help me get some ideas. My case is pretty specific, so I know what i'd need, but its not really community spirited to only help myself, is it?
no subject
If there are available resources, then any project can be started and completed. You just need a good plan from the get go, with clearly defined milestones.
If there are enough people here who wanna help, then it can be made into a community project.
First things first, like you said, you'd want a survey of the people who would really need help. That way, you know what starting points the project would focus on.
no subject
Have you done this sort of thing before?
[Audio]
Well I mean, that depends. You talkin' physical or mental there, dude?
'Cause I can guarantee that anyone who ends up here more'n likely has a screw loose already. Gods here really seem to know how to pick 'em, if you ask me. S'like the reality show no one asked for.
[Don't worry, he's including himself in that equation.]
Re: [Audio]
Well loose screws aren't a thing I can help with. I was more thinking on the purely mechanical level. Can you walk? Can you talk? Can you pick stuff up? You get the idea.
Re: [Audio]
Not that I'm exactly the paragon of sensitivity, but you do realize that sounds condescending when you put it that way, right?
Re: [Audio]
They're just the ones who don't want you to think they're insensitive.
