[just like one of my japanese animes john, for once, does not keep anyone waiting and arrives to the spire shortly after the commander. unlike haurchefant's naturally extravagant self, big boss really doesn't stand out from the crowd, which is sort of the point. the only noteworthy thing about him is his eye-patch, but he's otherwise dressed in normal, olive drab fatigues. there's a pistol strapped to his leg, a knife strapped to his waist, and a bow over his shoulder, with arrows to accompany it.
standing at just a little over 6 foot, john has to tilt his head back to actually look at the guy's face.]

[he says the name perfectly, french accent only marred by his naturally gravelly voice.]
[When John speaks, Haurchefant turns his full attention to him, a smile spreading across his features. He does give him a look over, and for all he may not look special, he certainly does carry with him the air a man who has had his share of battles. Haurchefant well knows the swagger of a man with a military history.
While he's a little impressed at his perfect punctuation, he doesn't make it apparent. But it is nice to have at least someone say his name right.]
Aye, that I am. Though I confess my title means naught here, so merely Haurchefant will do—I am not one to rest on formalities as it is, anyroad.
[And then he bows.]

Just giving respect where it's due. [big boss had never been one about titles, either, going only by 'boss' and 'sir' when absolutely necessary. although there had been one man who managed to turn a stiff title into an almost affectionate nickname.
