✘ Round 6 | [Audio]

Greetings, all of you. In light of the... unfortunate losses that this cave has suffered recently, I have been working on a few things in conjunction with other like-minded individuals in this cave. For the first announcement, I will allow Curufin to explain what we have planned, as it was his idea.

[Glacius' introduction is quick and to the point; while this cause is near and dear to the alien's heart, it's clear from his tone that said losses have been hard on him, have left him tired and not really feeling up to being the focus of so many people right now. So without further ado he hands the phone over; there's a brief pause as the device is shuffled about, and then another voice comes through the feed. Those who know the man will recognize it as belonging to none other than Curufin, another member of the Guard.]

We're here to announce a benefit event for the clinic, held in honor and memory of Kate Galloway!

Make a donation if you can, but if you can't, come anyway. Everyone is welcome, friends of Kate, clinic staff and helpers, well-wishers of the clinic, anyone who has ever been a patient there and received kindness and healing, and anyone who is just passing by and could use a square meal.

PICNIC ON THE LAWN:
Since this is a benefit, you get wined and dined. Bring a potluck dish if you like, but food will be provided as well -- sandwiches, salads, fruit, and deserts. Wine and whiskey courtesy of Rey and the Speakeasy.

DONATIONS:
if you can find any of the following, these would really be helpful! If you are into scavenging, Hadriel's unused buildings and shops can be unexpected treasure-troves. And if you happen to have any of these items and would be willing to donate them, then we would all be grateful. Here's the list:

Gauze or any thin cotton fabric -- these can be washed, cut into squares or strips to be used for sterile pads and bandages.

Canvas fabric of various weights -- can be used for slings for arms or legs that are in casts.

Sacks of plaster in powder form -- can be used to make casts for broken bones,

Crutches, canes, leg or arm braces.

Disinfectants -- alcohol, iodine or Betadine solution, peroxide solution.

Soap -- liquid or bar.

Terrycloth -- for washcloths and towels.

Bedding -- blankest and sheets.

Furniture -- cots, beds with metal bedsteads, chairs, tables, benches, cabinets.

Medical instruments -- if anybody happens to find any surgical kits, or spare instruments such as scissors, clamps, scalpels, etc., these things can be sterilized for for use.

Scrap metal -- Curufin and Celebrimbor will be carting this away to melt down and cast or forge surgical instruments and other medical equipment that the clinic does not already have.

LOCATION:
The picnic will be held on the grass near the clinic and the pawnshop. There will also be a sorting area for the donations, where you will be directed if you are bringing any items.

[Glacius clicks approvingly, taking the phone back.] Thank you, Curufin, for announcing all of that. I know it is a lot of information to process at once, so feel free to respond to this with any questions. We will both be present at this event to oversee donations and make sure everything goes smoothly.

Now: one final thing. I have also been working with Sharon to erect a memorial site in the forest. I have carved wooden markers that are individually shaped according to things that each person would have liked, and are engraved with the names of those that have been lost to us; she has been decorating the sites of those that we knew personally with portraits and tributes.

We will need your help to fill in the remaining markers, however. Feel free to reach out to either of us if you have lost someone and you have a special request in mind for their marker; I can be contacted here, or in my personal inbox if you wish the exchange to remain a bit more private. You can also stop by the memorial site at any time, and if we happen to be there, feel free to reach out to us then.

It is time we move forward, and make an active effort to honor and remember those that have left this place. Thank you for listening to all of this; I know it has been a lot, but the cause is important.

[[OOC: Feel free to have your characters either respond to this network post with any questions or letting ours know what your character is bringing to the drive, or strike up an action prompt to come interact with Glacius or Curufin in person! You can specify whether they're attending the donation drive or the picnic or both, and which character you want them to interact with. Questions or action prompts for the memorial site that he and Sharon are working on are also welcome. Feel free to ping either of us on Plurk with any other questions!]]

"Thank you. Do you get dressed up often, or is running a bar something special?"

He's, of course, teasing. He's seen Curufin dress up a handful of times before for him, and even where the tunics he's made. That black velvet shirt seems to be a perpetual favourite of his, though.

He eyes the alcohol selection for a moment, cocking a smile.

"That's all they have available, hmm?" It's not cocktail, but he supposes it'll do. "A beer, then, if you don't mind."

Any excuse to spend time with Curufin is still a good excuse.

"Do you need any help running the bar or anything?"

Might as well offer a helping hand. He doesn't have anything better to do in particular, anyway.

Curufin grins. "Running a bar is always special. But so are other occasions." LIke going to the masquerade ball with Yukari. Or going to the Speakeasy with him on Saturday night.

He pulls a beer out of the cooler and hands to to Yukari. "There you go. Enjoy."

He's pleased Yukari is making excuses to spend time with him, and he knows his lover is not all that crazy about beer, so that must be it.

"I'd love it if you stayed and helped. You can run the bar and I'll help you with that, in between toting donations to the correct piles.

"Oh? I don't suppose any of those other occasions means you're hiding with a rowdy group of unicorns from the wrong side of the tracks, does it? Because we might have to have a long talk if it does, ending with you grounded to your room for a week."

Yukari takes the beer lightly and pops the can open, raising it in a slight cheers motion before taking a tentative sip. Beer is bitter, and that's fine. Just Japanese beer tastes better. ...way better. He'll make due with it, though.

"I can do that. I don't mind making your workload easier." A thought. "Well, as long as you're not on Guard duty." He smirks.

He pulls off his jacket and folds it, placing it neatly on a shelf behind the counter as he rolls up his sleeves. For a moment, he pauses as he looks at Curufin. As if he has something to say, but can't seem to say it.

Curufin replies with a grin, "The unicorns are from the wrong side of the tracks, and so am I. I'm in good company."

Bright smile still on his face, he salutes in response to the toast. (He'd lift a glass of whisky, but he isn't going to do charity work while under the influence. Besides, since he's a guard, the salute is funnier.)

He's pleased his lover is here to help, though, and the warmth in his eyes makes this clear. Also, Yukari is cute in his rolled-up sleeves. Definitely bartender.

"What's up?" he asks, seeing the hesitation.

Yukari tsks teasingly at Curufin. "I told you not to hang around them. They're such a bad influence." He mockingly puts the back of his hand on his forehead in the melodrama. "Whatever will Celebrimbor-chan think? Oh, Heavens!"

And, yet again, Yukari can't help but chuckle as he allows himself to slip into the theatrics.

Yukari flusters a bit when Curufin asks him what's up, somehow caught off guard. He probably should have expected Curufin to ask. The Elf is always observant.

"It's..." Yukari clears his throat, the red darkening in his cheeks. "It's nothing. Nevermind."

He proceeds to pick up a cup and starts making sure the bar is in organised order, although it almost certainly already is. Knowing Curufin, he'll probably let it drop at that.

He gives a deep chuckle of appreciation for Yukari's teasing and his theatrics.

He answers, "Yes, you warned me! They're a bad lot, all right! They stomp, they swear, they snort coke, they wear black leather jackets and roar around on unicycles." (Get it? Unicorn motorcycles.) "And they're quicker with those horns than a juvenile delinquent with a switchblade; they break the peace of the city with their quarrels and duels! But I'm a worse influence on them than they are on me." He widens his eyes. "OH MY! Cel might have to come and rescue them from me!"

But his face softens when Yukari looks flustered. "Thanks for the help." The bar will be the better for Yukari's attention. And yes, Curufin will let the unspoken subject drop. But later, if Yukari still seems to need to say something, he'll ask again.

Yukari snrks at the unicycles statement and swats at Curufin with a bar towel.

"Oh, you are terrible. Perhaps I should worry more for the Unicorns' safety. I thought I taught you to behave, but I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if you taught them how to chew slippers at this point. No treats for you for a week."

As Yukari tends to the bar, he easily, gracefully serves drinks. And might snark at the occasional person who side-eyes him as they bring in donations. He knows he's not popular with others, he doesn't try to be. But even then, taunting people never gets old for the mercenary.

Periodically, he might glance at Curufin, and perhaps even help with the supplies if there is no one else to tend to.

Curufin jumps, not quite in time to avoid the towel, but he laughs. "I did teach them to chew slippers. Aren't I horrible?" The Fëanorian wolfdog strikes again!

He keeps Yukari in his sight, but the side-eying and the snarking remains at an acceptable level, between the donors and the mercenary bartender. Nobody throws a bottle or a boot, or pulls out a weapon, and that means this is a good day. Besides, it can't hurt Yukari's reputation to be seen helping with community work. (At least not in Curufin's view. Yukari might find the idea a little strange.)

He is grateful for the help, regardless. And for the company.
