So...relatives? How many do you have in Hadriel? I'm lucky to have two by the looks of it, but -

I didn't know either of them.

It's weird. I feel like I should be better prepared for a lot of things.

I think they would get tired of the ridiculous questions. I'm not even sure where to begin. [Usually fathers and grandfathers have time to...learn. He hasn't had any time.]

There's no such thing as a ridicolous question... and. uhn... how close are you with them in your place of origin?

Maybe you could start asking them how much they care about your persona? I'm sorry, I'm not well versed with relatives to begin with...

I would not know what to do if any of them were to show up, I haven't seen any of them in many years.

I miss them every day.

Duty. I married when I was young and moved away from them, to another country. It was not practical to visit each other. My family became my husband and his family became my only family.

I think it would be exceptionally difficult to prepare for family from very different timelines than your own. Better to simply take them as they are and get to know them, yes?

Have you considered that it might feel like that to them as well? Perhaps it might help if you treated each other like long-lost cousins for the time being, until you get used to the timeline oddities.

I don't have any. But, I come from a rather big family. So it's always a possibility.

I guess that depends on how you look at it. I have two others here who I might consider family, although I'm not blood related to either of them.

But we cannot choose, can we? It's a pity.

I chose mine...for the most part. I don't really consider it a pity to be bonded to them.

Three, as you probably know. My brother Maedhros, my cousin Fingon, and my son Celebrimbor. I was glad to be reunited with them, but I can think of a few I would be chagrined to see! [ Namely, Finrod. ]

I like your family. Maedhros goes without saying and I've worked with you and Celebrimbor. I'm not sure what Fingon thinks of me but I'm not losing any sleep over it. [Because he loses sleep on other things. Like visions.]

No, not at all. I knew my son existed, but he wasn't born yet in my time.

All of my known blood relatives are long dead. It would be...very strange for any of them to suddenly appear in this place. I cannot say that it would be a pleasant experience. And I do not know that it would be something I could truly prepare for.

I've never had any blood family that I know of. I've always found myself profoundly grateful for that.

I found him.

All of it. I don't know how to be a father or a grandfather. I'm still dealing with losing my mother.
