[The sound of metal is one of those sounds thats hard to mistake for anything else. Where human knuckles, an odd combination of soft flesh and hard bone, knock on a door they knock with a lower, dulled rap against. Meanwhile metal is inescapably higher in pitch and the sound is clearer, sharper, with none of the muting effect of skin. As such, Whistler's curiosity is piqued when he hears the sound at his door.
