Drive truck, pull hose, withstand extreme heat, meet the devil face to face and not be frightened

I have a project in mind. We have a city guard and a city clinic, and I was thinking we need some city firefighters, too. Then we'll have a trio of emergency services.

[ He's had it in mind since the ceiling of Guard HQ fell in on him while the building was burning at the end of the Doubles event. But also, there was talk of other incendiary incidents -- such as the one Sato was involved in? And Curufin himself had, erm, something to do with a few of the Colosseum walls being demolished by explosives while he was under the influence of Rage. And then there was the tragic demise of Delight's Bar. ]

In Hadriel, we are not strangers to the dangers of fire. Moreover, we could potentially see worse events than those that have occurred so far. And yet, here we are with no better ideas for dealing with fire than the traditional bucket brigade, and we have no real organization even for that!

So, I propose that we organize, recruit, build our own equipment, and train ourselves. I would welcome volunteers, ideas, and expertise. We will need people who will be firefighters, and we will also need people who will work in a support capacity (fire engine drivers, mechanics, electricians, and anything else we can think of).

If you would like to take insane risks, and don't mind ending up as toast, or at least dealing with a fair number of ouchies on a regular basis fight fires, or if you would prefer to work in a support role, then you are welcome to join the Hadriel Fire Brigade!

When I found him back home, he was already corrupted. We call it the Dark Side. It has to do with the energy in our world...the potential for those who can feel it to use it for good or for evil. If it's used for evil, it can damage a being's mind...twist them. That's what happened to him.

I was able to find the good that was still in him. To cleanse the corruption and rekindle the light in him.

I do have to wonder...I want so much to help him here. I just wonder if anything back home will be affected. So much of my life could change...

That must have been tough for you. . . finding your father had gone over to the Dark Side. [ Curufin's son Celebrimbor had had a similar, terrible revelation. Fathers and sons! ]

Yes, it sounds familiar. Elves have a view of the universe that is perhaps not so different. We know that the great power in creation can be used for positive or negative purposes, and that such use will tend to shape the user, sometimes in unexpected ways.

If you can help Anakin, I would say do it, and don't worry about what is affected back home. I know people who are concerned about what happens if a person is returned to the exact same point in their history from which they were snatched by the Door. Will the future be changed? But I have my doubts that people even are returned to their original universe. However, that's neither here nor there. If your life is changed as a result of his being changed, then perhaps that's all to the good. But we can talk about this more, if you like, when you come to talk about the Fire Brigade.

It was. I wasn't told during my childhood. My aunt and uncle didn't want me to have to deal with it, I think. And all I knew when he told me was what he'd done to my friends and I already. It was hard to come to terms with. But, I knew I had to help him.
