[ It's obvious this is being filmed in one of the many temples, all cool hard stone behind her, and, given the subject matter of the video, most likely to be Hope's. Sharon does not look pleased. Furious might be the better descriptor but it's a calm sort of fury. There are a few spatters of dark blood on her cheeks, dried and cracking; old. She has no wounds just stains and memories. She leans in towards the lens and whispers: ]
So, which one of you fuckers killed me? [ Her killer could reply, he might not, but she won't stop until she finds him and returns the favor. ]

video; lmao
What do you mean?

[Sorry, Mom. The boy has exactly zero chill when it comes to Sharon.]

That is true. I'm afraid I am quite lacking in social intelligence.
[She allows the use of her given name because ultimately, her title is meaningless here, and this boy does not respect her enough for a reminder of her title to set him straight on it.]
cw kinda encouraging suicide, sorry again about him /o\
Tell you what - I'm seconding Sharon's suggestion. Go get yourself killed once or twice and see for yourself what "the resurrection process" is like. There's no substitute for firsthand observation, after all.
lmao she's 2 for 2 omg👌🏼
No, there is not. Given that this is a recurring suggestion, I will be taking it very seriously. Thank you.

What is wrong with you?

I don't understand.

[And he's definitely not still experienccing bleedover from Michael Drake's life. Nope.]

As I am not the subject of this conversation, I do not see how that is a problem. However, you are not the first or the last to not understand me.
[None at all from being Michael Drake's mother what are you talking about.]

Yes. [And? ...no, she will not add that.] Does that bother you?

[Just saying.]
First, you suggest I seek out death here, and now you question my acceptance of your suggestion. Do you not stand by your suggestion after all? Do you care if I live or die? Aside from our false bond last week, you and I are strangers.

[Although apparently there was an episode before he arrived where Fear buried half the people alive.]
That "false bond" means nothing to me, so don't get any weird ideas. No one ever takes that suggestion seriously. It doesn't require much in the way of common sense to see that it's a bad idea, so frankly, yes, I'm surprised you're considering it.
no subject
[She knows what that's like. Not good. The waiting to die part is the worst of it.]
Good, I'm glad we have clarified that.
If no one takes the suggestion seriously, then why make the suggestion in the first place when evidently I asked a question in the spirit of scientific inquiry?
no subject
[He sighs tiredly. Why is this is his life.]
Is it really so difficult for you to consider that your line of questioning is invasive, callous, and unwanted for someone who has just been murdered? The spirit of scientific inquiry has no place here. You said that your work includes identifying murder victims, and maybe they can't tell you what their experiences were like, but have you honestly never given any thought to it? Not as a scientist - as a human being. What it feels like to have your throat slit. What it feels like to be burned alive.
[Projecting? Maybe a little.]
Are you honestly so immersed in the scientific method that you have no room for imagination?

[Translation: be more literal and specific next time.
Brennan presses her lips into a line as she waits for him to finish his tirade, breathing deeply. This is not the first time she has heard this, and frankly, it has been said better to her. It is still somewhat upsetting -- evidently, she still comes across cold and callous -- but it is also old news.]
In fact, I can imagine quite well what it must feel like to die any number of ways. A person's bones can tell me about their entire life in a matter of hours. I work to give a voice to their final moments, to let their loved ones know that someone cares enough to devote themselves to finding out the truth. I divorce my metaphorical heart from every case in pursuit of the truth, but I am ultimately human. I may compartmentalize, but I also feel. I know how long a person suffered being hung by their feet before they took their last breath. I can say with absolute certainty how much pain a person was in before they died. I am able to tell a mother that her child's end was swift and painless, even if that is a lie.
[She has watched a man die from a bullet to the heart, pressed her hands against the hole as the muscle stopped pumping, desperate to save him though she knew that he was gone. She knows what death looks like. Every skeleton was once a person. Angela has reminded her of that for years, even when she knows that Brennan remembers it.]
A scientist with no imagination -- where do you think curiosity comes from? We seek answers because we create questions from where there were none. [A quiet sigh.] I have apologized to Sharon and offered her my condolences. It was thoughtless to immediately ask her what I did. But do not mistake that thoughtlessness for a lack of empathy. If I lacked that, I would look for answers by murdering our fellow captives.

[Don't question his methods!! He sighs tiredly. And people say he talks too much.]
Look, I have no interest in furthering this argument with you, nor do I care to detail the fallacy of your claim. People kill for all sorts of reasons, empathy or otherwise, and making such a sweeping generalization is both lazy and wrong. If you've apologized to Sharon, then I'm done here.
