✫ 002 [text] thank you, i'll say goodbye soon
[And as with all events, everything ends. Alphys wakes back up in the house underground, and everything from the last 10 days is revealed to be a fake. She sighs as she pulls herself out of bed, ready to get back to some sense of normalcy.
It takes her a few hours to figure out anything’s wrong, because it’s not abnormal for Sans to sleep too long, or not come out of his room-- well, Papryus’, but it’s for the both of them now-- until late or necessary. She makes something to eat, settles in to read and relax, and thinks nothing of it until she tries to text him later and nothing comes up.
Alphys scans the contact list once, twice, and climbs off the shared couch, soul feeling tight in her chest as she approaches his room. She knocks, waiting a minute for his answer, because he must just be asleep, before knocking again, putting too much of her weight on the handle when the door finally swings to nothingness.
She spends the next hour tearing through the apartment, piece by piece, unwilling to believe this is happening, knowing what she knows about where he’s going... or, well, a lack thereof. It feels wrong for her to be in here, pawing through everything in a desperate hope, but she knows what this means. That one day someone can be here and the next simply be gone.
The house is doubly quiet, she finds in horror, the more she searches, the more she looks. Four gone. Four of her closest friends. Four that just never came back from that lovely town of nowhere.]
[She can’t bear to put herself on video for this, not when she’s crying, not when she can barely speak. So she types instead, hands shaking heavily, having found a batch of letters and items she feels important to be delivered.]

She's still wearing her pajamas, face tear-streaked, glasses smudged and left unfixed when she answers, cracking the door open just enough.]
Rose...?
action!
Thankfully, she isn't the one in need of comfort. She'll grieve on her own time. Or, y'know, not at all. That's kind of always been her M.O. since she can remember. Besides, why grieve when you can just bottle that shit up and keep on going forward instead? ]
I'm gonna, like, stay the night. If that's cool? I probably should've asked if that was cool first. Just... figured the last thing you needed right now was being alone.
[ She doesn't draw attention to the PJs or the splotchy face or smudged glasses. In due time, she will, but right now she just wants to... be here. ]
action!
I...I mean, the apartment's kind of a m-mess. If that's okay.
[Please, she wants to say. I don't know what I'll do if I'm alone.]
action!
[ She glad, if nothing else, for that smallest smidgen of an almost smile. It's what she's here for. ]
That's fine by me. I can crash on the couch?
action!
If that's, uhm, okay w-with you-- it's not the best, but, uh. Yeah.
Re: action!
Please, it's fine. I was used to couch surfing and hostel hopping before Haven. It's still kind of weird sometimes, honestly, waking up in the same place every day.
[ More than ever lately, she misses her roadie days. The freedom to pack up and leave whenever she wanted. But he's learned too the importance and connections that can be made by saying put. ]
action!
[She can't help but imagine a world without a home like that would be harrowing. And if you home is a person, well... people leave. At least an apartment can't get up and walk away.]
Not saying that it wouldn't be fun, if uh, if t-that's what you liked, and everything!
action!
It was easy.
[ That was really why she did it. Not having a home meant you could pack up and go when the going got rough. It wasn't... Honestly,
it didn't make her happy. Haven taught her thought.
But sometimes she still misses the simplicity of it all. How easy it was to just run away. ]
I miss the music though. I was a roadie.
action!
But she's afraid of the person she becomes when she does that. Someone who can just fade out of existence so easily no one will ever notice her passing.]
You've told me, b-before. I, uhm, I always wished I was good at music. Undyne used to play the piano really well. And Sans played the t-trombone.
[She feels like Papyrus probably played something, too. It would've been impossible to have it have just been them.]
My fingers were just always too small for stuff. Or, uh, t-too pointy for strings.
action!
Ah, right-! I remember now. You were one of the people I told. [ It gets hard sometimes, after almost three years of this fuckery, to really recall certain points. Still, ]
Did I tell you I'd make you a smaller instrument and we could learn? I'll make that my next pet project.
action!
O-Oh, gosh, I don't remember, uhm-- I mean, it's okay if you don't want to, or, don't have t-time or anything. But, uhm.
Thank you.
[She fidgets, wringing her hands a bit as she struggles for words.]
So, uhm... w-what do you want to, uh. Do, I guess?
action!
Don't worry about it. It'll be nice to have someone to do besides bum around the orchard, honestly. Kind of pissed at Sorrow lately.
[ They're going through a rough patch. It'll be fine. ]
Me? I don't know, uh. What do you usually do?
action!
[She... doesn't really know people that have personal relationships with the gods. Her own communication is rocky there at best. But she pauses when Rosie asks, smiling a little awkwardly.]
Uhhh. Sit in the dark and watch anime??
[She swallows, aware of exactly how stupid that sounds.]
Sorry, I'm uhm. I'm n-not very exciting.
action!
[ It's... not, actually, but. She'll have to get over it sooner than later since it's not like Sorrow is going to apologize.
He didn't even do anything wrong, honestly. It was just her being dumb and emotional. ]
... God, I haven't watched anime in ages. What you got?
action!
You’ve-- y-you like anime??
[It takes like, everything in her power not to go scrambling for her computer in her room right now.]
I mean, I don’t-- I don’t have a lot, but uhm, I have m-my favorite-- what have you seen??
[Oh man do the same animes exist in different universes??? Has Rosie had access to a whole new world of anime she’s never even heard of?]
we can probably wrap this soon?! alphys and rosie watched anime like huge nerds the end etc
Yeah, it's not bad. Got some good ones. I liked that one movie a lot, uh. My Neighbor Totoro? That was cool.
As far as series, not a whole lot. There was this one about, like, card games or something that was insanely popular in the early 2000s...
[ She's an Anime scrub, Alphys. ]
yaaaaa agreed!
I only have a couple here, but, uhm, d-do you wanna watch my favorite? It's called Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, and, it's about this girl with cat ears and she has magical kisses that let her control p-people and its about her and her friends and being accepted even though she has cat ears and-- I mean there's so much more but I don't wanna give away the plot.
[Honestly, she looks a little bit like she's about to burst.]
I h-have it all on my computer-- I can get it! If you want.
no subject
How could anyone expect her to say no to such an eager face, anyway? ]
Magical kisses sounds both really cool and really concerning. I did it, honestly. Let's watch it.
no subject
[She actually looks... kind of happy. Definitely better than she was when Rosie arrived. She skitters towards the door to the bedrooms, looking behind her.]
I'll g-get my laptop, hang on! I'll meet you back on the couch!!
[And she runs downstairs to grab it, her tail thumping the whole way but she hardly seems to care.]
