Hello, fellow abductees,

It has come to my attention that a number of you do not like Dr. Sweets. I did not like him either when I first met him, so this is understandable.

In an effort to help strengthen his standing within the community, I am requesting that you please state if you do or do not like Dr. Sweets, and why. Please also respond if you are indifferent on him, as more data will allow me to form a more complete and accurate conclusion.

It was information regarding an event that occurred before my most recent arrival.

[Not that she asked... but he likes to be thorough.]

"Most recent"? You have arrived more than once?

Yes. I first arrived approximately one year ago. I found myself in the Colosseum again recently after being absent for eight months.

[According to this network's system time, anyway.]

My departure and subsequent return were not based on my personal choice. Both took place without my prior knowledge or consent.

Fascinating. I was not aware that was possible. Unfortunately, this does not help us come closer to discovering a way back.

Though I do believe I may have the answer as to why they chose to bring me back. Not long before my second arrival, I was upgraded to another model, one which allows far greater freedom of movement than my former body. If our captors are to be believed and they do indeed require sustenance in the form of emotions, I suppose by having increased agency I am able to generate more of that for them.

[A pause. He has never met Dr. Brennan in person, so all this talk of switching bodies must be bewildering her. He responds again.]

I neglected to mention that I'm an automaton.

[Well at least she didn't have to ask him his species. That saves both of them some awkwardness, though honestly she probably wouldn't even notice how awkward it was.]

So you are from a world where technology has advanced to such a level where machines have achieved sentience. When did that begin to occur?

[See? No idea how rude or awkward this might be for Oscar.]

Providing a sufficient answer to your question would necessitate a broad knowledge of the technological development of automaton creations the world over throughout history, not to mention a complete understanding of the human concept of sentience.

[She's impressed. She likes you, Oscar.]

That is an acceptable response, and a reasonable explanation for it. Thank you for it and for this conversation. It has been more enlightening than the vast majority of the other responses to my post.
