Dictation - 5 [Video]

Hello

[Rosen's face appears weary and thin as he blinks into the camera, the bags beneath his eyes deep and he does not make his usual attempt to put on an awkward smile. He doesn't have the energy or the wherewithal to pretend so he just looks tired.]

When he left, Sans asked me to--

[He draws his lower lip beneath his front teeth and eases back heavily into the park bench where he sits before choosing a different course to take]

--Nevermind.

[That's not important]

Does anyone know where I can get carving knives, wood... [His voice trails in thought] I also need paint, also small bits of scrap metal and screws... I suppose what I'm getting at is essentially a tool kit and small craft materials. If anyone knows where I can get them, I'd appreciate it.

The honest truth is that there is a pretty consistent patient flow. With the god events and the monsters in the caves, added to the prominence of general stupidity, there is always some way for people to get injured. But with our limited stock our best hope is to keep people patched up.

I like that suggestion. But so far I've not been able to locate any books in a language I can read here. All the ones in the library are pretty much illegible.

So, lots of people get hurt all the time? The god events are just fucked up and beyond our control. But I've heard that some people go out and fight the monsters on purpose. I guess stress relief is stress relief, but I'd rather not do it in ways that could get me skewered.

I had a book in my bag. "A Tale of Two Cities." You can borrow it if you want.

I'm afraid what you heard is true. Some people here do it for sport, others out of a sense of civic duty...but it doesn't really lead to much good. I would not recommend it.

[He perks up at her last comment]

Really? I...I'm not sure I can impress upon you how much I'd appreciate that.

[He's not had an actual book to read in over a year]

You don't have to worry about me trying anything like that. I don't know the first thing about fighting.

[gives him a small smile. someone who appreciates reading as much as she does]

If you wanna borrow it, it's yours. [flushes a little at his enthusiasm] It's--it's no big deal, I've already read it four times. It's one of my favorites.

Where should we meet up?

Oh I assure you, it is a big deal. But perhaps you have to have been here as long as I have to appreciate why.

[He smiles. The idea of an actual book to read has made the day immensely better.]

Would you mind meeting me at the clinic? Do you know where that is yet?

Well, I've been to the library. There's nothing to read there, or at least nothing to read that I could understand. And how long have you been here?

[she smiles back, rather shyly]

No, I don't know where it is. Never had to go. Could you give me directions?

I've been here 7 months now, I'm afraid.

[A grimace]

Ah, yes. No problem. It is not far from the colosseum. If you use the colosseum as a starting point and head towards the second spire you will come across it, it is next to the pawn shop.

--seven months?! That sucks.

I'm afraid that is better than a lot of the people here. There are some who have been here for well over a year, I believe.

[And he's not exactly sure how to feel about the possibility of receiving the same deal]

and, she arrives at the clinic! she walks over, suddenly a little shy]

Um. Hey. Got your book?

[Rosen stands to greet her]

Ah! Hello. Thank you, this is very generous. Did you find your way alright?

[she smiles back a little awkwardly]

It's no problem, honest. And, it wasn't hard. I only got turned around once.

[He chuckles at that]

Well, would you allow me to reward your efforts with some tea? We're not particularly busy at the moment...

[George continues to be awkward]

--oh. Sure. That would be fine.

[Lee gestures in his own awkward way to where he keeps the tea]

So...how are you finding Hadriel so far? Have you, um, have you found anything to keep yourself occupied?

Weird. The library was a bust and I can only hang out at the Speakeasy for so long before it gets depressing.

Well, 'weird' is actually one of the better answers I've gotten to that question.

[He starts getting two mugs]
