These visions...they are a constant torment to me.

How can we know what they mean? Are they the truth of the future? Or only what could become?

I have to wonder if I'm seeing what my father told me about. He said my nephew had fallen...I don't know if that's what I saw...all I know is, it tells me of my own failure. How could one I mentored and trained turn against it all?

And can it be stopped? I certainly hope it can...

Don't trust them: the gods feed on our emotions, it can't be more than a dirty trick to make us feel awful about ourselves.

We're in control of our fates, never doubt that...

I'll do my best. I've heard that about this place.

It's confusing in that area. Back home, many of us believe that many things that happen are the will of the Force...yet it does seem as though a lot of things are the result of our own choices.

I... cannot speak for your word I do believe in free will and that I apply to my choices in life.

When you say everything happens because this Force means it- do you mean that even standing still and doing nothing cerain events would happen?

Not necessarily. It seems that it's still the choices we ourselves make that allow it. But, sometimes it seems we're brought to certain places or certain things happen for a reason.

So it's not just the force alone but a mix of force and pure will?

[It does certainly sound better in her ears, mostly because she can't imagine a world like that without some people trying to claim innocence because their actions were guided by a bigger will.]

Your culture does seem rather... interesting.

It does seem that way a lot of the time, yes.

[Mostly, they wouldn't claim innocence, because they would be too corrupted at that point, they'd believe they were in the right, and not much would sway them from the Dark Side...but she didn't know that.]

It is often interesting, yes. I agree.

I think they're tormenting everyone.

They're a reminder that nothing's guaranteed and things can always get more messed up.

Even if it stops, we'll have to live with the memories of it.

It does seem that way. And I do not think it will be easy, even if it may not be our actual future. It will be hard to live with it, yes.

My folk speak of time as the Long Defeat, for my world was broken at its beginning beyond all repair save that it be broken again to make new. But it changes not that we fight evil at every turn, for to turn away from evil, even in despair, would be to allow it free reign. I think to stand, even against the inevitable dark, is no bad thing. After all, morning will come, even beyond our seeing.

We are like that, too. We fight the darkness, and when it is not fought, it runs rampant and overtakes everything around us. It's both in the world around is and inside of us.

My cousin Fingon said that, the day he died. He was right, although he did not live to see it. But the Dark can seem overwhelming, at times. Even so, I do not think it is wrong to stand against it - no one can see all ends, after all. Who is to say what small thing you do that might affect something larger in the future? It behooves us all to do the best we can, in hopes of the coming Day.

I agree. I think it has happened more times than we realize.

I can relate to that. I saw a day of the light overcoming the dark that I had long hoped for.
