I appreciate the vote of confidence, though I do understand that it was more for Sorrow than for myself. Nevertheless, we will be undertaking an investigation shortly. Our main goal is to uncover any allies the Null have in the city - this should be no surprise.

However, I will admit that we have not conducted an investigation such as this before. Our kind never had any need to. As such, we would appreciate any constructive input you would like to give, as well as any assistance you may wish to offer. We have discussed this and decided on a course of action already, but Sorrow and I have agreed that some of you may have more experience with this sort of thing. It would be foolish of us to ignore that. We are listening to your suggestions.

However, please note that I said constructive input.

Okay, yeah, that makes sense. It's okay.

[He hesitates a moment.]

I'd just uh... I'd talked to some people about the idea of um, writing some code that will screw them up, like malware. Make them overheat, or have trouble sending signals where they're supposed to, or whatever. I know a few of the people that are going to pretend to be on the Null's side are trying to get enough information for me to do that.

[And so he doesn't want them to get caught in the investigation. And who knows how many other people might have similar information-gathering plans?]

I would offer you help if I could, but I know nothing about those things. However, if you tell me who they are - in confidence, of course - I'll pass that on to Sorrow and we will keep it in mind during our investigation. I don't want anyone implicated in anything if they are not truly guilty.

That okay, just uh, if there's ever a good opportunity for me to like... Take a look at something of theirs, or even one of them, that'd help.

[So Hope knows to keep that in mind if such a situation arises. As for who not to focus on, Chris hesitates a moment in naming names; not because he distrusts Hope, but because he feels like people might be kind of annoyed with him. But he'll take his chances on them not finding out.]

Gren and Curufin are who I talked to about the malware idea, and I uh, don't know them super well so I can't say for sure they're hundred-percent on our side, but I believed they meant what they were saying.

[He'll also mention--]

I uh, don't know if Fear mentioned it to you also, but he and Sharon are planning some sort of covert thing too. So she might also be pretending to be with the Null, and if she's sided with you guys then Mello probably has too, but he's the sneaky type so he might try pulling off something of his own.

I will keep that in mind. I would rather there not be a situation where they're close enough for you to take a look at one of them, but if there is - I may be able to do something.

Thank you. We may still approach them, to learn what they might know, but we will do it with the knowledge that they are not likely to be against us.

Okay, all of that sounds um, good. Or not 'good', but you know what I mean.

There were uh, a few things people had wondered about that I promised I'd ask you about, by the way. Is now okay for that?

Yes. I will answer, if I can, though I can't promise to know everything. Go ahead and ask.

Okay, awesome. Uh, first one I'm kind of curious about myself, now that someone brought it up; do you guys have like... Individual names? I mean, not every one of you who like, gets energy from hope or fear or rage or whatever can all actually have the same name, right?

We do. However, we don't communicate the way you do, so they would not be names that you would understand.

Oh, cool, that makes sense.

Uh, as for other things... Alphys had wondered about like, if it was possible to negotiate with the Null, but after that conversation between Tranquility and Sorrow I'm guessing that's a no-go.

It is far too dangerous to attempt any kind of contact with them. Tranquility now agrees with that as well.

Yeah, um... It didn't sound like a super likely option or whatever, but figured I'd ask.

[And now he's done his part on that, at least, even if it would've been nice to hear negotiating might be possible.]

So uh, in equally unlikely things I promised I'd ask about, someone wanted to know if you guys had like... Any other options for gaining energy other than from our emotions. I uh, figure I know the answer to that one already, so I'm kind of more interested in like... What part of our emotions actually gives you guys energy? Is it like, the chemical reaction itself, or more like a metaphysical sort of whatever?

I'm afraid I don't know how to answer that question. Our species was never a scientific one - that is probably clear by now. Your emotions give us energy, and beyond that I don't know the scientific details of it. I imagine it must be metaphysical, if I understand the word correctly.

It's cool; I uh, had a feeling that might be the answer, since like... The people who aren't human probably have a totally different physical sort of reaction than humans do, so yeah. Makes sense.

I um, feel like there were more things I was supposed to ask, but I'm drawing a blank now so I'm just gonna like... Let you get back to the whole investigation thing.
