[ Will hasn't really been around much at all. Finding small comfort in escapism. Fishing was too obvious a choice as was the spot down by the river he'd made for his Fenic fox and Nugs. No, Will had been living low, hiding out in various God's temples and small nooks and crannies not so deep inside the tunnels, practicing how to most efficiently take out some of the monsters with or without a weapon.
His voice is raspy like he hasn't spoken a word in weeks... which is partly true. ]
My mind has been a busy mess of blur and motion. Thoughts buzzing past like worker bees, endlessly in their endeavor... Nauseating- I er, I know a lot of turbulent occurrences have swooped down and splattered, most ungracefully so, all over this shithole of a cavern we have no choice but to call home. It's been testing, to say the least...
[ A moment of silence as Will recalled the fires, the mirrors and so on. That wasn't what he wanted to be focusing on right now. A heavy sigh before he continues. ]
... Such has been out of our control, true, but what about the things that aren't? There's no death here, no justice either, no real justice. Sure, we have the illusion our City Guard like to cast over us, that we're safe and looked after. Frankly, since Jill vanished I can't for certain say I'd trust any of them with my life- Ah, but what does life matter here, huh? No death, no crime. Murderers and monsters are our neighbors. Friendly Mr. Rodgers in his bloodstained sweater...
[ He's rambling, emotional and tired. ]
We need justice. We're ruled by our emotions, literally! God's? What God's?' He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into the light.' Isn't that what a God does? No, all this death, killing, darkness has to stop. We need a system of order, a place to hold the dangerous, a means of judging and sentencing them... How many times can we be revived before it's too late?
... Well, I'm gonna be trying to do something about it, even if I have to do it alone.

There are a few reasons why people might be reluctant to do anything. For one, I think there are plenty of people who haven't the first clue of how to solve a problem like this. The people who do have some idea of how to solve a problem like this also have some idea of how many months of work would have to go into it. Considering how often the Guard is criticized, and that we can be sent home by the Door quite abruptly, it seems like a thankless job to take on.
[It's why, despite liking several people from the Guard well enough, she's got absolutely zero interest in participating in an organization like that.]
Then there is the matter of how the gods' power regularly influences our emotions and our actions as a result. I think all of these factors play more of a role than apathy does.

I hadn't considered all of that, honestly... Kind of makes it all seem like a pointless endeavor.
[ He's tired, in pain too. Maybe he should have just grabbed a bottle of spirits and vented to Hannibal instead? ]
I'll try and forget it for now then. I mean, the definition of insanity is, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... And I feel like I'm being treated like I'm insane by some people for even suggesting this in the first place.

[She's been able to take even the prospect of her own death fairly serenely, so she can be a little more objective and look at the bigger picture. She'd agree that Will should just put it aside, but he's clearly upset
and her baby boy, so she takes a moment to think about it a little more.]What would be needed to start with is an official government, with people voted in by the citizens here, and a line of leadership succession in case someone was sent away by the Door. We're all varying degrees of chaotic and disagreeable. I doubt many people here will accept leadership they have no say in, and getting people to accept the leadership is key for getting people to abide by the rules created.

[ Spoken with nothing but kindness, even if there was a hint of mocking in that tone of voice somewhere. Will just felt that it was sweet of her, to offer such good advice, a solid explanation of what would really need doing. He appreciated it. ]
The more I look into this, the more and more it seems to grow ever-complicated. Too much for one man to handle and far too much to expect a bunch of almost strangers to agree on. I think might sleep on this one, see if I can't find a better way to approach it in the morning.

[Joking about their fake memories is a good way of dealing with it. She's essentially adopted Anakin as her brother now as a result.]
Perhaps given that the gods allow us to vote on matters concerning them, they might be willing to allow whatever function lets us vote over the network for electing leadership.

[ Will's don't the opposite. He's tried not to get too involved with anyone he was involved with then. Still, the bond between a mother and son, be it an imaginary one, still pulled at him slightly. ]
I dunno, I just get the feeling they'll shrug us off. What with everything going on to do with the Null and so on... Feeling kinda hopeless about the whole thing.

[Nobility and then a mercenary life doing some of her work from the shadows and observing how shady people really could be.]
It costs them absolutely nothing to give us access to a function they've already created, and Hope might appreciate people addressing the matter given that he has to spend energy each time someone needs to be resurrected.
