[For once Matt has the video on. It's no use to him, but he wants his face to be seen this time, because this is serious. And he's furious.]

I'm going to guess most of us read the post that the ones who call themselves the Null posted. If you didn't, it's because you're on their list. The list of targets they've asked us to kill in exchange for the location of the god killer. I'm not the first to post about it either, but the louder the signal, the less chance it can be missed or ignored.

And it needs to be known.

I'm no fan of the "gods" who brought us here. I'm no fan of these null either. But I refuse to stand by while people are used as pawns and killed. This is their game, not ours.

The names were already there for anyone to read. Far as I'm told, they're still there. The only people who couldn't read them were the people named. And those people deserve to know they're potentially in danger.

[A moment's pause to wonder if she actually listened to anything he said or just read the list of names, if she's asking if he somehow thinks this isn't in danger of someone acting on the deal.]

If I didn't think there was a possibility of someone taking the Null up on their offer, there wouldn't have been any reason to say anything. I've witnessed what people are capable of when they think their actions are justified, or when they're desperate. They're trying to turn us against each other at this point, and yeah. It could work, unless we stop it.

Well, you aren't wrong. Most people here have enough sense, or at least a sense of camaraderie, to not consider killing each other just to get at Hope. Some, though...

[ Some are stupid, or desperate, or both. ]

Unfortunately, those who intend to give it a go aren't likely to volunteer that information.

I think so too. I think the majority of us don't want any part in murder no matter what prize they're promising. Especially with actual children on that list.

It's the minority we need to worry about.

[Here there's a smile, grim, and vaguely tired, on his face.]

Criminals very rarely announce their plans and intentions, except in cheesy spy novels. We actually have more notice here, given the hit list and the public announcement, than most people would at most times. We need to be careful, to look out for each other, and somehow manage not to cross the line into paranoia and pointing fingers. [It's a thin line when the stakes are this high.]
