[Like the last few posts that have occurred, this is also clearly in regards to the Null's latest announcement; however, Lance is trying a different tactic, because he's doing his best to avoid getting kicked out of seeing their list. So he's wording this very carefully, and that's purposefully obvious in his tone; it's also probably pretty obvious in how intent his stare is, and in how he's casually fiddling with his FBI badge in view of the screen.

He's really hoping the Null aren't too good with subtle body language, and that the people here aren't as generally bad at it as he's concerned they are.]

In light of recent occurrences, I'd like to remind everyone that I'm a psychologist, and I have an office in the clinic should anyone wish to speak confidentially. Additionally, although I prefer to work with individuals, group meetings are also possible.

[Aka the Clinic is available for anyone who wants to have private conversations about all of this going on, and Lance will be lurking there himself both to participate and keep watch on things.]

Rosen will be taking Lance up on this 'offer' and will be shuffling into the clinic and sliding into his usual work chair within the hour.]

Your ability to keep a cool head is outdoing itself today.

[Lance is in the main area, sitting up on a desk and monitoring the network on his phone, and glances up when he hears someone enter. Despite the seriousness of the situation, he offers Rosen a small smile both of greeting and in response to his statement.]

Thank you, but it's not all that remarkable.

[As far as he's concerned he's not really showing any great restraint, especially since this post was a risk on its own.]

It is when you consider that people have been blocked from that post by the dozens.

[Rosen shifts in his chair so that it is facing Lance]

I didn't expect this to be their tactic. Death lists.

I guess so. I'm just really glad to see people actually care, even if they're being a little impulsive about it.

[Some people do, apparently, have souls!!!

He shrugs a little at the next comment, sighing.]

I didn't expect this particular change, but it's only an expansion of their previous death list. This one just has people other than Hope on it.

( Kate's appearance is as sudden as anything, as though she appeared from thin air. In reality, all that's happened is that she walked quietly, but still- )

What's it s'posed to do? Show loyalty or summat?

( For how big the Null's buildup has been, she can't imagine them wanting these people dead simply because they're a threat. They nearly wiped out the gods, last time. )

[Lance's comment actually wins a short-lived laugh but it gets sidetracked when Kate appears]

It doesn't even do that. Whether or not their name is on the list, everyone is involved now. Even if they choose to stand by and do nothing, they are still on the game board. It's not loyalty, its a free for all.

clinic? i know youre a psychologist and everything but do you know if they have inhalers there?

[Lance nods to Kate in greeting, listening to Rosen's response before addressing the question.]

Some of it might be about loyalty, but... I think the Null want us to believe they're more powerful than they are.

[He's had this theory from the beginning, and for awhile it was kind of put to the side after some conversations with Hope, but now he's wondering again.]

If they really had such a numbers and strength advantage, they wouldn't need to go through all this trouble. They also wouldn't keep indicating that they might have to kill anyone providing strength to the gods. I think that latter part is more what this is about; they're having those here do work for them, to weaken the gods by removing supporters.

I don't know for certain, but I can find out. Do you know what type in particular, or does it matter?

[Lance only knows the basics of inhalers, but he is aware there are different types of medications. Also he's suddenly very concerned about the idea of someone needing one and not having them.]

Sorrow told me they span solar systems. ( She's having the same feeling, but the information may as well be communicated. Reiterated, whatever. She's shared it with people before. ) But it don't add up. None of it does.

( Not since they first heard about a spy, really. )

Left two of 'em alive before we got here and never came to finish 'em off. ( Which is odd. If you crush an opponent, why not finish them. Especially if you know Hope's the one who can revive each. )

[ Other than that, Eddie's not sure. It doesn't have a label on it.]

[Rosen's jaw is locked as he listens, and when he speaks its with a tight voice]

The Null themselves are not my main concern for the moment. It's the people here who might find the prize worthy of the price tag and what they might do to get at the people on that list.

[He casts a meaningful glance at Kate as he says that]

Besides, even if the Null turn out to be less powerful than they want us to believe and are in some way wanting for numbers and firepower, desperation and need are their own strengths when weaponized properly.

I'm afraid we don't have inhalers. We may be able to ask the Gods for one, but in the meantime can you please tell me your symptoms? Have you been diagnosed with asthma?

I think the gods believe what they've told us, but something may have happened regarding the Null that they're unaware of.

[He says it in response to Kate's comments, in full agreement with her, although he also believes that the gods he spoke to were being truthful. But it's entirely possible to be truthful while still being wrong.

As far as Rosen's concerns--]

You're right; there are several people here who will finally have a good excuse to do what they've been wanting to for some time, and others who are simply acting out of self-preservation rather than malice. For the latter, convincing them that this isn't actually as beneficial as it might seem could be the best course of action.

[Delmar knows where the clinic is but aside from helping Eddie find it the first time he's never had a need to go there. However now he finds himself stepping inside nervously.]

E-excus me, are you the psychologist?

[He seems flustered, his normally shy and skittish nature exacerbated by everything that's happening. But he's at a loss so he needs to ask someone who might know better what to do right now.]

[Lance has seen Delmar in the network but never spoken with him, so he responds a little more professionally than he did to Rosen or Kate; he slides off the desk to actually stand up, FBI badge visible where it's tucked into his belt.]

Hello; I am, yes. Did you want to speak privately?

[He isn't sure if Delmar is here about the Null thing or to talk to him about a different issue. Maybe both.]

[Delmar instinctively pulls his arms in closer to himself when Lance moves. He's never been good with strangers, he doesn't know how to carry himself or where to look, but he manages a nod]

Yes, if it's not too much trouble.

[There's a small exhale before he whispers]

My friend's name is on that list.

[Well. The body language didn't do much for Matt. But the tone of Lance's voice did. Also Lance's popping in to suggest finger breaking techniques.

And he had a meeting near the clinic anyway, so to speak.

So there's a pop in at the clinic, and a knock on his door.]

Hope I'm not intruding. I couldn't miss your post... hoping I could take you up on the offer.

[The moment Will found out about that hit list he high tailed it out of the clinic with his bow. That is, until Matt talked him into going back and setting up a watch so no one got killed because they were aiming at Will.]

I'm headed back to the clinic. Although, I understand if you would rather I not put patients at risk.

( Yes, she's on the list. But for now, the problem is that people might actually try to take the Null up on their offer, rather than who exactly is being targeted. The information will help provide a list of who to guard, but all the same. )

Any signs who'll be sidin' with them?

( She's not sure she knows anyone on the fence that would do such a thing, but them-

Maybe she's wrong. Maybe it could be anyone. Even these two. )

( She's stuck on this herself. The clinic being full of targets means that anyone could just decide to level it and claim their prize. On the other hand- )

Shouldn't change our routines because of a threat. Makes them think they've won.

( They can figure out a way to hightail it out of there if necessary. )

Of course.

[Lance recognizes him from his post, although they haven't actually met yet and so he's a little more professional about the greeting than he would normally be; he stands up, from where he'd been sitting in one of the chairs in his office, and turns to face Matt. He's already figured out that Matt is blind--not that it takes a lot of skill to discern that--so he follows that up with a little additional information just in case.]

There's a free chair about five feet ahead of you and slightly right, if you'd like to sit.

[The two chairs face each other, separated by a small table.]

[Matt ducks his head in a nod -- visual communication that he's never entirely lost, one of the main indications that he didn't start out life blind.

He makes his way to the seat easily, too easily for someone with no sight, navigating to it, stepping easily around the small table and taking a seat.]

I appreciate it. [A pause and he adds,] I don't think we've met before. Matt Murdock.

Your life is just as important as anyone else's, Will.

[In other words, definitely come back to the clinic.]

[Lance notices how easily he gets around, but doesn't think anything of it just yet; he's not particularly knowledgeable about what's normal and what isn't, so he figures Matt just has very good spatial awareness.

He nods as well--even though that's probably pretty pointless--at Matt's introduction.]

I don't think we have. Dr. Lance Sweets; it's nice to meet you. Which name do you prefer to go by?

[People here come from such different cultures that he finds it best to ask.]
