"A friend told me to be wary of my life." Maglor's voice is almost merry. But there's a ring to it, an edge that draws attention.

"Slain ye shall be they warned us and we were, oh we were. O my brothers, my cousins, my bright kin! Three Ages of the world and all those I loved died around me and yet I am still here."

Maglor throws out his hands and laughs, his eyes burning silver bright and fey and his voice with a shine to it like the polished edge of a blade.

"Three Ages we stood against our Enemy and all he could throw at us, and paid in blood for every inch we held against him. But we held! Dragonfire and Balrogs and betrayal of kin and ally, but he is defeated and I remain. And now you would name me enemy? Come then and let us see if you can do what the Enemy of the World could not! But."

And his voice drops to a low croon, darkly caressing, promise in every word.

"Anyone who touches my family dies."

[ Curufin knows this, but he remembers well who Maglor is when he goes to war. He is as crazy as any of his brothers, or as any other Finwean, for that matter. ]

I know you won't.

Nor will I let anyone hurt you, my dear brother.

Good. [ Maglor hums, the bloodthist in his eyes settling ]

Where are you?

Crossing the city center. About to visit my dear friend Yukari and have a conversation with him that can't wait. [ Lover, that is. Curufin's face indicates it won't be a pleasant conversation, indeed, it may be a very hostile one. ]

Where are you?

[bythewaves]

Stay safe. [ Maglor's eyes narrow slightly - he only vaguely remembers Yukari from the Pleasantville event, and he doesn't trust his brother with someone who is essentially a stranger ]

Come home after. [ he pleads softly ] I will be waiting

I will. Thank you for your kindness, as always, my brother.

[ Curufin is mad as hell, but he is also disappointed. He had wanted to introduce Yukari to his family, but as of now, only Celebrimbor (who took the initiative to contact Yukari, many many months ago) knows him at all. Yukari was up for meeting the family, though he had requested that it not be all at once at some big family event, but one by one, in small situations like a dinner for three. He's a bold and flashy personality but also in some ways a very shy one.

But now. . . what now? Curufin's plans are shot. Yukari has gotten himself and Curufin into one hell of a mess, and Curufin can't even think what to do about it. But he must talk to his lover and at least come away with absolute clarity on where they stand with one another. ]

I'll come talk to you as soon as I get back.

[ OOC: We could continue as soon as Curuin and Yukari finish that conversation, which is in progress! ]

[ Curufin returns an hour later, comes quietly into the house and into the kitchen. He starts making coffee, gets out some cups, spoons, cream and sugar, and then stands by the coffee maker, staring off into space. ]

[ Maglor comes padding over and leans against the bench next to him ]

Tell me.

[so_dark_a_road]

He won't listen. He's overwhelmed by his own pain and fear, and when that happens, he cuts off all his emotions. And then he shuts his ears.

[bythewaves]

Oh Curvo. [ Maglor sighs softly, and thinks that it sounds very much like Curufin himself, in truth ]

I'm sorry.

[ There's not much else to say, really, so instead Maglor comes over to hug his brother, offering comfort that way ]

[ Strangely, that has never occurred to Curufin. . . that he himself has, or once had, that same habit. But Maglor has hit the bullseye. ]

Thank you.

[ He turns and slides his arms around Maglor's waist and lays his head on his brother's shoulder. That sound you hear is a soft sigh of both grief and gratitude. ]

[ Maglor pets his hair and hums to him softly, the way he might have done, long ago. It's little enough that he can give his brother, but this comfort, at least, he can do ]

[ It isn't a little, it's a lot. Curufin accepts the offered affection and comfort, and just hopes that someday he can give back even a fraction of what Maglor so generously and lovingly lavishes on his younger brother. ]

I'm sorry, Curvo. But we're here for you, alright? If and when you want to talk. Whatever you need.
