Voice 01 - Polling for Fear

[In a rather friendly voice, the broadcast begins.]

Excuse me, may I have everyone's attention, please.

I've seen alot of talk about how everyone is tired of the God's antics, and I believe I may have a solution. Well, for Mr. Fear, at least. But I think it could genuinely work.

The thing is, I need enough people for it to work.

So, here is my proposal:

What if we opened something like a club? It would be outfitted like a haunted house, and it would be a place where we could tell each other scary stories. I figured it would be alot more fun this way, and we would be getting scared willingly to feed Mr. Fear's needs. And we could all scream and laugh about it after. Who doesn't love telling scary stories, after all!

I already talked to Mr. Fear about it, and he supports it. But in order for him to construct the building and get behind it, he needs enough people who want the idea, too. So, please weigh in here! I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Well, I do support the idea.

Personally anything involving deep water or big fires would suffice for me but I'm not entirely sure what others may be afraid of. You can count me in, though.

That... doesn't sound so bad. Being scared can be fun sometimes.

That sounds kinda fun... could we have like, rollercoasters too?!

While I'm all for haunted houses and the like, I'm not so sure you need a house just to tell a few ghost stories. All you need is a flashlight, a few marshmallows and some really creepy music.

[ and preferably a few people lurking in the shadows to help with the scare factor. So, easy. ]

I hope you are not intending to set up a whole house simply for telling scary stories.

Well, it would be a designated building, and I imagine we could do alot more than just tell scary stories.

What if we used it to have like haunted house walkthroughs and things?

We can always function on more suggestions! We could do all sorts of haunted house things, I'm sure. And if other people have scary suggestions, we can always do more.

Rollercoasters?

Rollercoasters might be a bit difficult, considering they're so big. But I'll definitely see if we can get something that Mr. Fear could do with it. Maybe something like a virtual reality? Would that be okay?

What kind of scary things would you like to see on a rollercoaster?

That was the way I explained it to Mr. Fear, and he agreed. I believe expected fear is still fear. Even if it is fun, our hearts can still race, right?

Glad you asked! Right now, we just need people to hear me out and say that they want this to support Mr. Fear. So maybe spread the word to friends and see if they're interested?

Even if it's just a headcount, the more people we have, the better!

You mean like have a few clowns and men with chainsaws chasing people through the house? Honestly, that almost sounds like every day in Hadriel. You planning to the be the manager or the guy actually doing some of the scaring?

[ well, each newbie arrival anyway. Some of the monsters in the Colosseum are just downright scary. ]

Hmm. Well, I never really saw the appeal in scary clowns, but... if that's the sort of thing you like, I'm sure we could get it setup! I also don't think Hadriel is all that scary, but if you're the soft type, then this club would be perfect for you! You only have to get scared as much as you want, and we'll have refreshments at the end for you!

[He's actually... teasing a bit on that last part, even if he sounds perfectly even in his tone. He doesn't take you for a scaredy cat.]

And, while I certainly have a few ideas I'd love to run in the haunted house, I have no intention of being the direct manager. I didn't think we'd need someone in charge? I thought we could all bring our own ideas and work together to make it happen as they want it to.

There'd probably be teams to sign up for so that no one person is doing all the work at any given time. It's entirely to the creativity of the people of Hadriel!

I... guess so. [She doesn't really like the idea of helping those things out at all, but surely it's better if they can do it safely.]

Hm. Okay, well count this as another number for the headcount then, I guess. I'll see what I can do about convincing others, but it seems like not many people are huge fans of doing things for the gods. Even when it's gonna help us.

We just need as many people as possible! Tell all your friends, I don't know if everybody pays attention to this network. But the more the merrier. And if they have ideas, even better!

Maybe they just don't know any better? If they don't help, then they'll be subject to all kinds of things down the road, right? It's less doing things for the Gods and more like doing things at our own pace.

Maybe tell them that it's our way of taking our control back. Maybe that will convince them.

It should have loops, and be really fast! Or - hey, if it's supposed to be scary, it could go through like, a tunnel too. With loads of scary stuff in there.

I haven't been here that long... [So she can't really say much about having any friends.]

But this kind of idea should be good for everyone, right? Who's going to say no?

[ he barked out a laugh ]

So you're used to being chased by monsters? Most people from where I live would call that a scary movie. [ or a really cheesy scifi flick. But he shrugged. ]

Teams might not be so bad, but you're still going to need someone to organize the schedule just so people don't end up bickering over who gets what when. Considering it's your idea, I'd vote you for captain.

But you might be on to something. If nothing else, it'll keep people's minds off of why they're actually here.

Monsters? Not particularly. But I was part of something in which I could die, and knew I would die. Though, I wasn't afraid then, either. But then, I never really feared losing anything. So, my perspective on what's scary or isn't could be skewed compared to yours.

[He doesn't sound bothered by that in the slightest.]

If it's just scheduling, that's fine, I don't mind. But don't call me a Captain. Such a small task doesn't need a title.

And I don't know... You should at least be The Coordinator. Or do you just have something against titles?

Well, no one has said no so far. So, I hope that's true! It'd be great if we could get something so easy for us to use and willingly! I can't imagine that very many would say no to that.

Though, this is because Mr. Fear asked if I had any supporters on the idea. And, while largely accepted, I don't think the votes here are even half of the populace. Or even a fourth. And I'm not entirely certain how many is enough.

So, even if it's just a little, word of mouth can surely help us go a long way, I think.

Against titles? Of course not. I just don't need one.

[There might be something slightly chilly at the end of his tone, there. The smile isn't warm anymore.]

I think it might depend on the number of supporters he would have. But I certainly don't see the harm in asking! And I certainly don't know the limits of his abilities, so we'll definitely have to see.

I'll make sure to let him know all of that, too. I'll tell him that it was a special request.

This is a really good idea, you know. Especially if it makes them stop scaring us on purpose.

A ghost train would be wonderful, for sure! Any other ideas? I like that you're contributing.

How about people dressed as scary stuff too? Like vampires and witches and werewolves. Only... I guess we'd have to be careful about that. In case people thought they were real and tried to hurt them.

Hmm. Well, we certainly don't want real people getting hurt, but I don't think setting up substitutes would be a problem. I'm sure there's a way to get it without it being too much of a hassle or danger.

Maybe just keep it all in one place. So people know if they go there, there'll be stuff trying to scare them.

I remember a while back there was creepy stuff jumping out at us. It wasn't real - all the stuff just disappeared - but it happened everywhere, and people were really freaked out and angry because they didn't know what was real. But if it's in one place and there are people making sure no real monsters get in it should work better than that.

Yes, that's a perfect idea! You're really good at this. Maybe we should anoint you as our organization specialist. You seem to know what you're doing.

[Look, someone already picked on him to take the role of the "organization leader". He doesn't want it (mostly because he doesn't want titles or to be told he's capable of such). So... if he puts Duck in control of that, and especially since Duck seems to know what he's doing, he doesn't have to make the rules and can just happily enhance them for someone else.]

Mr. Duck just sounds weird. Sorry, Duck, he doesn't mean anything by it. He honestly meant the utmost respect when he said it the first time.]
