[Matt is notably less enraged than the last time he popped up on the network. Hell, he even manages a smile this time. No dark glasses, no immediate evidence of his blindness. He's dressed casually as far as anyone can tell -- t-shirt visible in the shoulders-up view the camera offers. He's a bit uncentered on the feed, but other than that.]

So I've mentioned it to several of you already -- that it might not be a bad idea for people to learn a bit of self defense. Especially people who aren't used to fighting, or people who aren't used to relying on physical strength.

Doesn't matter how old or young you are, how big or small, man or woman or anything in between.

[So. Here he is.]

I took some time to find a decent space. It's run down, but I've managed to clear it out. Got a couple things that'll do as mats and pads. So here it is.

Anyone interested in self defense, I'm teaching. Ways to get out of holds, quick escapes, ways to use an attacker's size against them. [A faintly sheepish smile.] I learned to fight as a kid, so it's never to early.

[Huh. Sword fighting is a new one for Matt, and actually he's fairly curious himself.]

I can't think why not. People need to be able to defend themselves, however that might be. I don't have any weapons here, aside from a couple sticks, but there's room to store a few for practice if you need it.

[It's an old shop that he's cleared out, using the open floor plan. But in time it could become something more. Matt doesn't exactly want to stay in this place long term, doesn't want anyone to be trapped here long term, but he can't help but plan ahead a little.]

I only use a katana, but there are some in the armory. Besides, I wouldn't want to give new students live steel right away anyway. [He says that with a knowing smile. He doesn't want to be responsible for any extra work for the clinic!]

I admit I've never taught someone else before, so I can't guarantee how good I'll be at it yet.

Makes sense. Blunted edges? Wooden substitutes? How does that work?

[Matt isn't all that well versed in sword fighting training. He's always preferred his bare hands, sometimes a good pair of sticks (thanks Stick).]

It's my first time doing the teaching thing too, so I'll be fumbling through it too.

Wooden substitutes would be good. I'll have to see if the armory has practice swords. If not, that's something we could possibly make ourselves.

I haven't visited the armory myself, so I wouldn't know. But we can probably put something together if we need to.

Might as well. I welcome anything here to keep me more occupied. The days move by pretty slowly.

It is tough to get used to. Not having a caseload took some adjustment.

[And not trying to divide himself between two lives. That's odd too.]

I guess you'll replace that with students, then. Normally I'm used to keeping the streets of the Capital safe from demons. While demons aren't the problem lately, I've been thinking that we might need some extra help with that here lately.

[Raidou's not sure about this Guard Hadriel is supposed to have if people are getting murdered out there.]
