[So the fighting may be over, but that doesn't mean everything is going to be immediately fine. Finally having the time to really think about everything that's happened, and for everything to sink in, is going to make the next few days and weeks just as much of a challenge for some here as the last have been, if not more so.

But that is, hopefully, something he can help with, if at least a little. And there are new arrivals as well, who not only had to deal with the end of the invasion but also everything that goes along with suddenly finding themselves in an entirely new world, not to mention the sudden setting change too.

So he's trying to look as composed and calm as possible, which is a bit of a struggle since--like pretty much everyone else--he's exhausted and didn't get out of the whole ordeal with the Null entirely unscathed. Compared to some people he definitely fared better, but there's still a pretty obvious bruise across his cheekbone and around his eye; it's not too serious, but the main problem is that it's also not very helpful in looking as professional and put together as he's trying to appear.

Still, he's doing his best, and he lifts his chin a little and takes a deep breath before speaking.]

If anyone is injured, or just in need of somewhere safe to rest, the hot springs and the fire station are both serving as temporary locations for the clinic. Additionally, considering the seriousness and extent of everything that's happened in the last few weeks as well as the arrival of new people, it's worth reiterating that I'm a psychologist and so if anyone wants to talk, whether about recent events or otherwise, I'm available to meet.

[A short pause.]

I'm... Not exactly sure where, since my office doesn't exist anymore, and I probably should've thought about this before making this announcement...

[That would've been good planning, if he weren't so tired and scattered, but okay, refocus--]

[There is so much he dislikes about that response that he isn't sure where to start, and actually can't quite even begin trying to figure out where to do so. It's just briefly overwhelming, and he chews hard on his lip for a moment, before asking the only question he can get out at the moment.]

Who's 'they'?

[Because that might help him come up with something they can do, aside from just giving up and waiting.]

Nick and Ephemera. Things are down to containment, now.

[ Since there aren't any bodies around to scavenge from, after the move. It was a solid plan, but it only bought him another week or so in the long run. ]

[Ephemera's no surprise, but that Nick also knows is not exactly a surprise either but also not something Lance would've immediately guessed. Good to know, though, for future reference.]

Neither of them have any other ideas?

[Lance is not at all ready to give up on this, especially with everything that happened toward the end of the attack.]

The gods know what's up, it's just a waiting game now. And I don't plan on losing, but I'm not going to give myself the chance to, either. If you want to take a shift, we'll be in the back of the shop closest to the old Guard HQ.

[He stops himself far too late, dropping his head to hide his face in his hands and letting out a long breath. Drake is not the person to be upset at; this isn't his fault, and he's the one who really has to deal with everything anyway.

But even though he knows that, and the flash of frustration is gone as quickly as it came, he's struggling and failing to regain his composure. So the apology comes from behind his hands still, but he means it.]

I'm sorry. I'll just... I'll try to figure something out.

[Nick and Ephemera can do the guarding, and Lance will see if he can find another option besides just waiting.]

...this isn't your responsibility, Lance. It's not your problem. I'm sorry I called, I just wanted to say thank you.

[ He's already asked too much of the other man, much more than he was comfortable with. Besides, other people probably need his services right now. ]

When things are normal again, I'll come by. Okay?

[That is definitely not the response he wants to hear and he feels even more guilty for snapping at Drake, but he's still failing to pull himself together enough to look up which surely isn't helping.]

You don't need to apologize. None of this is your fault.

[But at least Drake is using 'when', not 'if', for things being normal, even if the path he seems to be expecting to take is not a great one. So for now he'll agree, but still see if he can figure out another option all the same.]

[ Drake can't let himself believe it'll be an if. Even if he has to die in the back of that shop, Hope survived the attack, he's bringing people back, and he'll come through eventually. Right? One way or another, things will work out for him. So it's a 'when.'

He feels awful. Not just physically, but for involving Lance in all of this. Remember when his biggest problem was his love life, Lance? He manages a smile. ]
