[ No one has explained the concept of people going home yet, so the idea the friend he looks up to has just vanished is unfathomable.]

Good for 'im. Sounds like half the people 'round here ain't that smart. [Not that Girl can talk. She was ready to fight one over a cat.] He's probably not ghosted then. The wannabe gods probably just let Bill go home. Is that a good thing?

Yeah it's a good thing. Home is much better than this place. I mean it's not perfect but this place is just such a mess if the monsters don't get us then the heatstroke will. Or we'll starve. Probably both.

Heatstroke won't take anyone out if you don't do anything stupid. Boilin' temps ain't that hard to deal with. And nobody will starve if people ration and don't eat like spoiled pigs. [Girl thinks this sounds comforting.] Just stay outta the way of the monsters and you'll probably be fine as long as you keep your head on right.
