I'm gathering water. Tainted or not, we will need it for our most basic of needs soon enough. I encourage everyone to find water-tight containers and take what you can find.

(He wipes his brow and grimaces.)

We can go without food much longer than water. We have been through too much to lose one another.

My skin will heal. (He can't help but imagine more of the water evaporating as his skin burns.) Time is limited.

Necessary or not, people deserve to know exactly what they risk when drinking.

Yes, I thought as much. R stands for Rage, S for Sorrow and so forth. (He has been using a marker for the task.) The fumes from this utensil are disgusting, but it marks well.

Paint smells too. (He shrugs.) I can cope. It is better once the cap has been replaced. I am spending much of my time outside, so I will be well.

Because you might wish to cool down while you can? I know you can withstand heat well, but it wouldn’t hurt.

I hadn't even thought of that. (He chuckles.) I need to find a shirt too for Uncle's sake.

We all miss things at one point or another. You may as well soak the shirt, actually, that should keep you cool for a time.

I’ve not noticed much of a dip in the water levels yet, but you would know better than I.

Let us hope the water will not dip for some time! I will take measurements in each pool.

A good idea. And someone should probably find out whether there’s a source somewhere, we should know how the pools are fed.

I have not tasted it, but I have gathered it. Each container is marked. We do not need to be mixing emotions.

It does not cause sorrow? Why would that be?

If that is so, we should drink it first.

Maybe it causes other problems later on. Or maybe it's safe for now. I don't know the whys of this place.

[ He grabs a couple of empty plastic gallon milk containers and holds them up to the frame. ] I wish I'd collected more of these before the Null attack, but I can go back to the same shop and see if there are any more. Place was a mess when I was last there, but plenty of the refuse was useful and salvageable.

I'll take the wagon around to the nearest lake and fill up whatever containers I can find at the shops or here at the forge and carpentry sheds. Might see you out there by the pools, or I can come get you before I go?

By the way, the citizens can boil the water before they drink it. That would solve the problem of its being possibly tainted.

Good choice of storage location! -- the temples seem like good places to keep food and water cool and safe.

They are sturdy and I think they will last. That is all we can seek in this new home of ours.

I don't know if magic can be boiled away or not. Our kind of magic could not, but the magic of these gods is different, and besides, we really don't know what might be typical of this world. But I guess it would be a good precaution anyway.

Sturdiness and durability. . . yes, the temples have that. But we can build our own structures. I notice that there are some trees out there, and I intend to make a separate expedition with my axe to cut some wood and see what it's properties are. I hope it is good for building. That would solve the problem of having to rely on salvage from the wreckage of the city.
