[ Pell appears in the video with a few streaks of dirt across his face, but otherwise much better rested and in better spirits than he has been all month, trapped in the clinic healing nonstop. There's also a bit of a glow to his skin, like perhaps he's been spending a lot of time under the new suns. ]

Hello, Hadriel. I have some good news for you, at least a little. It seems like my garden was brought here from the cave, and despite being neglected during the attack and my taking some time to find the new location here, it's still producing. There won't be enough to feed everyone, but a few of those I usually shared with seem to have left the city, and there's enough to spare otherwise that I'm making the offer.

If you've run out of food, please come by to pick up some vegetables.

I'd like to try and expand, if the soil here is still fertile, and could use help gathering seeds and maintaining the land. Back home I was a desert farmer most of my life, and am willing to teach. Until the irrigation project reaches me, I could use help keeping it watered as well.

Mostly. It was actually started by a friend who left, well over a year ago now. But I've kept it going, made it bigger and a planted wider range of vegetables. Some medicinal herbs from home.

Personally? I count the days. Which might be harder, now that there's hardly any nighttime. And a day might be longer or shorter than my own world's would be, but... it's as close as I can get.

[He doesn't bother with any more words - the map is sufficient for Mello to find his way toward the garden. He shows up alone, no longer dressed in his customary black (being punk is only fun when you're still alive, after all) - just boots, cutoff jean shorts, a white shirt with the sleeves removed, hair pulled back off his neck to combat the heat. Slat-lens novelty glasses do nothing against the light but he wears them anyway, out of habit, and the scarring over the left side of his face extends down his neck and shoulder, peeking out of his collar and sleeve, now that it's too warm to comfortably conceal the marks left on his skin by the choice he made to burn his hideout and make an escape, survive to fight Kira another day.

He lightly clears his throat to announce himself once he finds Pell.]

Most of the work I did in the orchard was weeding. I'm not an expert at gardening or farming, but I learn quickly.

[ Hello there. If Pell has any thoughts on Mello's scarring they don't show on his face -- he's seen far worse, in any case. What interests him more are the strange glasses, at which he quirks his mouth. Those can't be helping.

He slips a gardening glove off and reaches to shake hello. ]

Funny how even when we plant our own seeds and nothing else, the weeds find their way, hm? Even in a cave, they did.

They're earth vegetables, or at least a convincing enough version of them. And medicinal herbs.
