[Adam is not terribly fond of posting on the network, where anyone can hear and respond, but this is kind of important. He doesn't sound nervous, just - very controlled as he jumps right into it.]

So, I know of at least a couple of people who were here in Hadriel before, left, and then came back. Neither of them have memories of their initial time here.

I'm interested in anyone else who's had the same thing happen, but - I guess this is also a warning. The Door must do something to us when we leave, something that makes us forget the things that happened here. It's up to you whether you think that's good or bad, but everyone deserves to know.

And if anyone has left and come back but does remember things, say something. So far this seems universal, but there's no way to be sure yet.

That happened to one of my friends. I asked Fear about it, but he said he didn't know how the whole thing works.

Yeah, I've gotten the impression the gods really don't know anything about what happens when we come here or when we leave. But if we know in advance we're going to forget... I don't know. I guess I'd just rather have been warned.

Yeah. I mean, I guess they could be lying, but I think they seriously don't know like, any of it.

[Which is both good and bad.]

Warned that we'd forget?

My roommate disappeared for like, a day, and came back with new memories, like he'd lived weeks or months at home. Before that he'd been here and then disappeared and came back all blank slated. So I don't think we can say for sure it's all one way.

It's not wonderful, if you end up coming back again.

[ It's frustrating to say the least. Gansey is furious with both himself the the Door for what's happened to him. ]

This time I'm keeping a better record. If I can't remember, my journal will. Keep an eye on it, Parrish, if I disappear again.

That my friend would forget. I mean - me too, but I haven't left yet, so it doesn't matter as much. It's... awkward.

['Hey bro we had a lot of crazy traumatic adventures, what do you mean you don't remember any of them?' is bound to be kind of awkward.]

Yeah, I didn't think we could. Two people isn't a big enough sample size to be sure of anything. It's good to know about your friend.

I will, but frankly I'd prefer it if you just didn't disappear.

[He's frustrated to, but not with Gansey, at least not this time.]

It's not like you had any control over it, though.

[Aaaaand suddenly Chris realizes he misunderstood the initial post. Somehow. And it was definitely Chris' fault, not mine, because I am infallible and can do no wrong especially when it's only 9 PM when I tag in and there's no excuse for misreading.]

Yeah, that'd be weird. A few of my friends are from like... Earlier on in the same night at home than I am, and that's weird enough.

I-I'm a total idiot who obviously wasn't listening too well though, when I first like, responded. My friend remembered what happened here when he left and came back, but he didn't remember anything between; one second he was in the blizzard and then suddenly in the arena like two months later.

Do you think we should - um - like - try to keep a list? Of people who leave? And then check it again when more people show up to see if - I don't know.

[Ronan doesn't like thinking about the fact that they could all forget everything that's happened in a moment. It gets him to wondering how many things they could have already forgotten about, how many things they might not know.

He doesn't externally show this though, simply opens Adam's door without knocking and sticks his head in to look at him so he can respond- he hates phones, he won't use them unless he has to.]

I'd prefer that myself, unless I can take you with me this time.

[ Adam and all the others. He's determined not to leave them again. ]

I did meet another boy it had happened to. His name was Newt, and he'd managed to return with memories, as well. On a second occurrence. Not only that, but he said that when he went home, no time had passed at all. It reminded me of the sort of phenomenon we found in Cabeswater.

[But it's all ok because I had no idea and every tag was perfect and wonderful and nothing was ever misunderstood. Yay!]

No, you're not an idiot - it's good to know. I guess a couple people have remembered and a couple have forgot, so there's no way to predict what will happen to any of us. That's frustrating.

[And he sighs, frustrated indeed.]

He was gone for two months? I wonder if he really left or if - I don't know. Something else happened.

It's not a bad idea, but I think it would be difficult. I don't even know everyone who's here right now, and keeping track of when they leave would be really hard.

I think that depends on what your future holds. I wouldn't exactly say that his time spent away was anything other than self-serving for our resident deities, or at least some of them. Maybe it was better for them for your friend to return without his memories, and my friend to return with his and then some.

[He looks up from his phone and moves, curling his legs up from where they were stretched out on his bed, leaving some open space. An unspoken invitation, if Ronan wants to take it.]

If it were me, I'd want to know. But yeah, it's pretty messed up.

[It's really a miracle how amazing we are.]

That's weird. You'd think it's be more consistent than that if the same thing's happening each time, so maybe it isn't.

[But then again the Door is some supposed magical portal to other dimensions, so who knows.]

Yeah, he disappeared during the blizzard and showed back up right before the whole... Wendigo thing.

[Ronan moves forward at the invitation, letting the door creak to a close behind him as he sits on the foot of Adam's bed, pulling his knees up to settle himself in, cross-legged and facing him.]

You ever wonder if we've forgotten anything?

Do you know if anyone has returned with their memories?

[There's the barest hint of a smile as Ronan makes himself comfortable. There's nothing strange or particularly intimate about it, it's something a friend would do, but - still.

But the smile disappears quickly, because Adam doesn't like thinking about this.]

I've forgotten things before. There was... a blank space, an awareness that I'd forgotten. I haven't felt like that here, but who knows if it would be the same.

There's at least one other person who's come back with their memories, too. I guess it's impossible to be sure what will happen.

[And that's very annoying, particularly for someone who likes to be able to make plans.]

So strangeness with time and with memories. That does sound like Cabeswater, but it doesn't feel like Cabeswater.

[He doesn't like hearing that Adam has forgotten things in the past. It only serves to remind him of the strange contract Adam has made with Cabeswater and the ramifications of it. Ronan chews at his lower lip for a moment in thought.]

I guess it wouldn't change anything if we had. There's no way to know unless some asshole comes in and tells you about it.

[ No one would know Cabeswater better than Adam. Gansey takes that at face value. ]

I wouldn't say impossible. I'd say we haven't enough data to discover if there's a pattern, yet.

I don't think it's Cabeswater, but hear me out. Cabeswater is the focal point of our ley line, and ley lines in simple terms, are lines of energy that connect one place to another.

That Door is doing the same thing. The strangeness we see could be a side effect, either of the Door itself, or by whatever energy is fuelling it.

It never used to be like that. The whole... not remembering thing. ❰ she's thinking back to a time before they were in the cave. remember that? it was a thing, she promises. ❱ I don't know, since we've been here though. I don't exactly know enough people around here to be able to tell.

That's assuming they're lying about having no control over the Door. Or that they mess with memories, and the Door just brings people in and out. I don't think we know enough to say that's the case.
