hadriel | Video 3 - Margaery's Apartment

[The video opens not in the Sewing Shop but in Margaery's apartment where she's sitting in the middle of her bed, a pillow clasped in her arms. she's looking down from the camera and she's in a bathrobe and nightgown, both wrinkled. her hair is disheveled and her eyes are heavily rimmed with red, as though she's spent a long time crying. which she has been. a whole day and night and a new day of crying.

she tries to look up at the camera, clear her throat and speak, but the words don't come. fresh tears well in her eyes and she looks down again, biting her lower lip.

a long moment passes with nothing but Margaery fighting back tears and silent. finally, she looks back up at the camera and speaks]

I--I thought people may want to know that Matt Murdock is no longer among us. His. His help was invaluable in the time before the Null invasion and [her voice breaks] he will be missed greatly.

[she brushes a tear off of her cheek, looking down again. she forces herself to look back up and continues]

I need to apologize to those I promised garments to. I. It will be at least another month before they're finished. I'm--I'm sorry.

[ She felt no sadness when she'd left Daario behind in Mereen, but Dany had, of course, felt Drogo's loss keenly. Even though it was years ago, she hasn't lost sight of the pain of a loved one's presence vanishing suddenly. ]

[Margaery swallows hard and peers at Dany, her eyes full of unshed tears]

I would--I would appreciate your company very much. Thank you.

[ They are allies, after all, and powerful women from Westeros ought to stick together. ]

[she swipes at her eyes with the side of her hand, dashing back tears]

Thank you. Just. Thank you.

--what, seriously? That sucks.

[she sounds genuinely disappointed]

[Margaery has never met this girl in her life, so she tries to summon a bit of courage, blinking back her tears]

Yes, he's gone. He's not home and he's not on the network list, either. You were a friend of his?

Yeah, I was. He was teaching me how to fight.

I see. He was--he is very good at such things.

[ Looks thoughtful, if anything. And okay maybe a little upset by this news, Matt was cool and the boys never found out if he was batman or not.]

Maybe he'll come back?

[Margaery looks more than a little upset. she clutches the pillow she's holding tighter]

Do you think? Oh, I hope so! I--[tears well up again]--I don't know what I'll do if he doesn't.

Damn right he was good. [finally takes notice of the thoroughly disheveled state of the other woman] You guys were. . . close?

He is my beloved--I'm sorry, I can't do this.

[the video cuts off]

[ Oh no. Adults aren't meant to cry, especially the nice ones.]

I don't know but he would if he could, right?

[too late, tears are welling up and threatening to spill over]

Yes. Yes, I'm sure he would. He loved me. He offered to take me to his world.

When it's your turn to go home just tell them you want to go to his instead. If they can drag people in and out and stuff then it'd be bullshit if they didn't help out.

[ Noooo. Even Eddie is helpless against tears like that. Have mercy.]

[It's not the same, he knows, but Delmar has felt the wretched heartache that comes with the loss of someone you love. In his case the love had not been returned, but still the hurt had eaten away something inside him, left it forever aching. So he can only guess at how much worse it must feel when the love you lost was something shared and nurtured, something beautiful made between two people.]

Oh I'm so sorry, Margaery. Is there anything I can do? Anything at all?

[Aren frowns, sympathetic though awkward. Dealing with such things isn't her forte, but even she can't entirely ignore this.]

I'm sorry, for what it's worth. I didn't know him that well, but he seemed like a good guy.

[it's terrible. she'd never fallen in love with anyone before, never imagined how good it would feel to love and be loved by another, to not have to pretend to be anyone else to be appreciated, to feel free to share everything, even her darkest secrets with another person and not be judged. to be held close and truly make love, not just endure sex. to say that she's heartbroken is an understatement]

I--I would appreciate your presence. Do you know where I live?

[Margaery is still on the verge of tears but she tries to hold them in]

Thank you for your sympathies. And he was--is a good guy. The best I've ever known.

I'm sorry for your loss.

[she tries to choke back tears, but they're still thick in her voice]

Thank you, Abigail. I--I don't know what I'll do without him.

Maybe he'll come back? That happens sometimes, right?

[the valiant effort to hold in tears continues]

Sometimes, yes. Though, I. I shouldn't get my hopes up.

I haven't been here long enough to say whether or not you should.
